Savitha, akki rotti is one of my favorites too! I use almost same ingredients, but have not used dessicated coconut. I will try it. I pressure cook the avarekayi with cumin seeds and salt.

Coconut to be added with boiling water ,when its cooked add a tablespoon of cumin nd pepper powder they not only enhance the taste but light on stomach easy digestion as avere ಕಾಳು is gas.
