I wish this was available on DVD. Especially that Sperm Whale Program “Sperm Whales: The Real Moby Dick” along with it as a Double Feature Program on Toothed Whales. Speaking of Toothed Whales. 45:20 I know what that other species of Dolphin is, it’s a False Killer Whale.

Bonus: 1:10 That’s the book version of that 1960 Film by 20th Century Fox. Except that Film had Live Reptiles pretending to be Dinosaurs instead of using Stop Motion Dinosaurs like the ones from the 1956 Film The Animal World that was directed by the same Director of the 1960 Film The Lost World. Oh & I heard that 20th Century Fox is part of the Disney Family now.

Hmmm. I think this program of should be released on DVD along with Cowboys, Caimans & Capybaras as a double feature since these 2 NATURE Programs are taking place in Venezuela home to many types of Tropical Animals. Especially those that are an Endangered Species that might become extinct. 1:10 Like the Dinosaurs. I better quickly & carefully check the list & see which interesting NATURE Programs have yet to be released on DVD as a single feature, double feature AKA 2 parter or triple feature on a 1 Disc DVD. The others with a 4 part & 6 part Program as a 2 Disc DVD Set. I might even write a letter to the National Geographic Society about which National Geographic Documentaries on Modern & Prehistoric Animals have yet to be released on DVD in America after all these years.

Not only does this NATURE Program have Common Flying Dragon Lizards, Estuarine Crocodiles AKA Saltwater Crocodiles, Water Monitor Lizards, Reticulated Pythons & Tokay Geckos, but there’s also Javan Rhinos seen on a Documentary for the 1st time. Also, I’m going to have to write a letter to the station of PBS to release one of the NATURE Programs hosted & Narrated by the late George Page. I was thinking this program of Krakatoa should be released on DVD along with Vietnam program as a double feature. Land of Dragons maybe a Bonus. I’ll see what happens. But again, I need to see what NATURE Programs has yet to be revealed on DVD. Especially 1 or 2 that needs to be rereleased on DVD as a Double Program feature & a new & improved 2 disc set like that Sex of Nature Program for example.

“Only minutes from capture the victim is efficiently dead”. It’s funny that basically since the dawn of wildlife documentaries they have had to lie about how animal hunts work. Its like they haven’t to it do it can still be a family program. They always stress that the prey is killed instantly or that the predators make sure they are dead before they start eating. They still do that today and it’s all lies. Animals don’t have a concept of death. They start eating as soon as the prey is incapacitated or can’t fight back very well. Killing just happens to be a byproduct.

Omg I have been looking for this for years, couldn’t remember the title, only that i recalled James Earl Jones narrating. Tried searching for it by his name even, and had no luck. I’m so glad I found this. I had this tape recorded 20+ years ago, and having these serene visuals, soft angelic choirs, and Jones soothing voice used to have me sleeping like a damn baby. Thank you so much for posting it 🙏

Something tells me that this PBS Nature Program is not on DVD in America yet. I bet check what other PBS Nature Programs have yet to be released on DVD in America. Especially those Living Eden Programs that have yet to be released on DVD in America. Just as some of the National Geographic Documentaries on Modern & Prehistoric Animals that also have yet to be released on DVD in America.

This documentary series being produced for the public audience is proof the average intelligence in America has greatly decreased when comparing it with today's "educational" nature documentaries, mostly composed of the personification of wild animal behavior edited as a soap opera drama telenovela stories of mostly animal violence and sex.

Agreed, along with people's diminished attention span and the falseness and ironical cynicism which seems to make up a lot of television and entertainment these days. I watch and enjoy these alongside older series Jacques Cousteau and Kenneth Clark's civilisation, which feel so much more humane, endearing, civilised, modest and educational than any of the superficial crap people are fed these days. We have digressed as a species in many ways, shows like this as proof of that.

When there’s no forests left because of the greed of man there will be nothing left for future generations. No air to breathe as we need trees for oxygen. Greedy humans don’t give a flying fuck and the future. Money money money.

I find it very interesting that even between 1991, when this documentary was created, and present day, our intimate understanding of this species has evolved, considerably. Some of the information presented as factual, at the time, no longer holds true, as we have, since, become much more knowledgeable about these animals. As one example: This documentary claims that it is problematic that the alpha's sister has become pregnant, and that in wild dog packs, pups belonging to any dogs, besides the alpha pair, are typically killed. Although it is true that the alpha pair are normally the only breeding pair, amongst the pack, we now understand that in the case where another female, besides the alpha female, does happen to become pregnant, the pups will NOT be killed, but rather, they will, in fact, be raised by the alpha female, as if they are her own offspring. Wild dog packs are immensely peaceful, cooperative, and close-knit. They rarely act aggressively towards one another, under any circumstances, and will actually go out of their way to care for their sick, injured, or elderly pack members, by returning from their hunts, and providing such members with regurgitated meat. They are, not only, the most successful of all predators, but they share extremely deep bonds with one another, and ensure that all pack members are cared for, regardless of their ability to contribute to the hunts, etc.

This Nature Program has 2 different species of African Pangolins. 19:09 This one is The long-tailed pangolin AKA the African black-bellied pangolin. 47:27 Those 2 the mother & child are The tree pangolin, AKA the African white-bellied pangolin.
