as a fellow 3 section staff user of over 3 years, who taught myself, without videos, I can say that honestly, I've come further by just messing with it, and taking the lumps that come with it. I've watched a lot of videos on here of "masters" 😂😂😂😂 sadly the video corrupted, but i have witnesses who can testify that the masters in KZbin only know 8-9 moves at most, all of which I've seen you doing here, so you have a much better start than most, especially for only a week, but my point is, in the same 3 minute span that the "masters" used to perform 8 moves, I performed 56 moves. were they as fast? no. but they can be over time and repetition, but the other 48 moves that I already have (more are still coming to me as the years go on) that the masters do not, or at least, do not showcase, I can tell you that if you don't "fuck around and find out" you'll be extremely limited in what you can do with this weapon. it's absolute idiocy to believe there's only 8-10 moves that the 3 section staff is capable of, because of how many other weapons reside within the 3 section staff. (staff, nunchucks, baton, poi, rope dart, and 3 section staff) each of those weapons hand their own plethora of moves, and though the 3 section can not do a select few "specialities" of the other weapons, some of the more basic moves of all those weapons exist within the 3 section staff, and you can't forget the specialty moves that only the 3 section staff has access to, as the other weapons do not have these same abilities. in 3 years, I'm up to over 60 moves that I can at least see as possible, if I can't already do them. if you're afraid to get hit with your coiled dragon staff, there's no shame in downgrading to foam for expiramenting new moves. I know I'm just a nobody, with no tangible proof I can give you, but I'm sure I can give you enough details to reassure you of my "expertise" if you'd call it that. staff is obvious, nunchucks? hold one end and the middle section in one hand, and boom, nunchucks. baton? hold it closed, all 3 sections collapsed in one hand. poi? hold it by the chains, and it resembles the led strip light poi. rope dart? it's definitely shorter, but you can still launch one end of it, in a very similar way. to tell you the truth, I've gotten so good with the 3 section staff, that I'm actually slowly, but surely, learning to dual weild them. (2× 3 section stalves: one in each hand)
