The rope halter is the best thing ever invented for horses. All other halters are trash IMHO
@trickedouttech3212 ай бұрын
I agree with the method but disagree with how the horse proposes it. The horse is not looking for love, in fact, the horse does not like to be petted. These words are the same if you never pet the horse. This is simple pressure and release training turned into a show. The show part is for humans, not the horse. I promise Monty Roberts behaves much differently with no observers or cameras. Monty is a great trainer on of the best, but he is also selling himself or his method at all times. So we also get a sales pitch.

Pat Parelli is a master who gives tribute to who he learned from. I've made amazing progress with my horses just from his old DVDs. Everyone else, including his ex-wife, is basically using his program 😂. Learn from the master.

Idk why people are particularly impressed with this. Of course he's calm. Any half decent trainer would be calm. But it would make more sense to start out with the chute being wider, so that the horse isn't afraid of it, and then gradually make it narrower. (The fact that he has to hand the horse to his assistant and get out of the way when the horse comes through tells you he's pushing the horse too fast.) Just like if a horse is afraid to walk by something, you let him cut a wide path around it -- whatever he's comfortable with -- and then gradually as you walk past it, the horse will just stay in a straight line, nearer to the scary object. If the horse knows you aren't going to try and force him, he will be more relaxed to begin with and just get on with it.

I have two mules that rode fine until they left the original owner who trained them. They were broke harsh old-school. I'm sure others who payed good money for his mules are learning the same thing. Back to square one and I'm bringing you along. They needed you all along.

I remember listening to an interview with him sometime in the early 90s, talking about his book. The interview was an hour. At the end of the interview I went immediately to buy his book, now shared by so many. What an honorable man.

Whatever method, it is a natural method I use it with all my horses. Especially as a professional hoof care provider. Bonding trigger points, and body language,, is a major imprint for life. I even use it for bonding techniques with wild deer.

These tips are so good! I took riding lessons, and they never taught me to approach the horse and how to get the horse to go like this. I learned the pre-execution squeezing ques and ques to stop or change something. I like your method of doing things! I learned a lot! Thank you so much! And yes, I remember Red Skelton. I did not know he was a horseman! He was also a very good painter, as well.

I train horses and my sister does dogs and long ago we realized some people just do not have the 'presence/energy/authority' in them and the animals know it and ignore or blow them off. this piebald is a lazy chonk, used to not having to exert himself :-)
