And they have to take Nevada with them where ever they go and their TV ratings (past) have sucked. If they keep winning consistently for years win some bowl games and jettison the Nevada albatross they could get consideration for the next round of pac-12 expansion. But big 12 now? No way.

Who said the Pac12 will be on the CW in 2026? There are only 2 conferences that will be in the market for a TV deal in 2026, the PAC and the MWC. Which is more attractive? Neither CBS nor Fox is committed to carrying the MWC in 2026. I can't tell you what is going on in TV land behind the scenes, but I guarantee you that something is going on behind the scenes.

@@terryfox9344 My understanding is that the PAC2 currently has a deal with The CW. At this point, I don't think anybody (the public) knows for sure if that'll carry forward with the expanded PAC, but some people are assuming it will.

@@romamessi9686pac 2 only has a deal with the cw this football season and Oregon state baseball. Other than that, no long term cw deal. CW might be in a play for future deal though.

I'm about 50-50 on the idea. I'm much more inclined to be in favor if 4-6 "eastern" schools are added than if it's just Tulane and Memphis,

In your dreams … IF the conference can command media revenues above what AAC offers then THAT COULD happen (& should), but I am dubious about whether PacX can command media revenues above AAC sufficient enough to draw Tulane, Memphis, USF and UT-SA. Like the basketball teams list, btw. Big12 should add those schools as well. IMO, the primary ACC backfill targets are: Tulane, UConn, USF, Rice, and maybe UTSA (ahead of Memphis, due to better academics) but maybe both, or else perhaps Tulsa instead of Memphis. Tulane must weigh its new ACC option vs PacX, but PacX must at least first beat out AAC or it goes nowhere with any of the AAC schools, Tulane among them. PacX probably has to first get 8 to 10 members, 2 more than 8 in case WashSt & OrSt get drawn away by Big12 or ACC, and those first 4 to 6 PacX adds should be from this short list: Toledo Appalachian State Marshall UConn Texas State +1 (Ga State or La Tech or Coastal Carolina or UMass or Liberty, or James Madison). That group of 4 to 6 adds would allow PacX to get a media contract that allows comparisons to be made to AAC and new ACC if that arises. IF PacX allows for an easy out, THEN Tulane has no reason to say no to PacX as long as the money exceeds AAC. Navy & Army and Air Force should all end up in the new/backfilled ACC after FSU/CLEM+ leave.

Once the initial easterly schools are added, and a new PacX media contract is obtained, then, provided the contract beats AAC and has a prorata clause, then PacX can go after the AAC schools (Tulane, ECU, Memphis, USF, UTSA, UNT, etc) and also 4 more MWC schools: Utah State Air Force UNLV SJSU.

Tulane and the other AAC schools probably will not consider a move unless or until the new PacX has at least 8 members, preferably 10 or more, and has a viable media contract that materially beats AAC media money.

​@CharlesFosterMalloy you do know Memphis raised 101 million in research alone this year right? Memphis owns rights now to their 220 million dollar stadium being renovated. Just invested 5 million as a starter to a new AI facility due to elon musk bringing the super computer to memphis. Memphis is R1 and though it's outside the top 150 academically it has over 20 doctorate degrees per year and at its research rate will gain AAU status in the next 2 years. GPA average ranked 309 nationally 5 years ago. It's like 184th now. This university has come leaps and bounds the last 12 years. FedEx also pledged 25 mill in NIL and the school matched 12.5 for 37.5 million in NIL.

UNLV and Nevada have been in different conferences over the years. They are not tied at the hip.

I think that you mean the CFP in 2024 and 2025. 2026 is still to be determined.
