The ending of Gilfane's quest is the start of The Forest of Doom, another FF gamebook. A nice little easter egg for eagle-eyed fans!

It will. I got it on the European Nintendo eShop. I highly recommend it. I'm really enjoying doing this playthrough (despite it being pretty punishing at times).
