The first mexi CBP officer did his best. Either dispatch or FD messed up by not navigating to the north side and acting with urgency. Someone helped her get up the fence to the north side, I doubt she did that herself. Someone had to pass the ladder if the ladder was used on south side. I feel like that other woman was a distraction. She may have been involved at some point? I don’t blame the first agent for not wanting her to try to descend on north side with the bystanders holding ladder where she could have fallen as well. The agent original on the north should’ve monitored her instead of opting to transport people and the FD could’ve left one man on the south to monitor while the truck navigated around. It is not even clear that the fire truck was a ladder truck. Hilo was overhead so everyone should’ve been able to navigate and see the lights of the first agents truck. Time is of the essence in this and people should’ve been more urgent in their tone and faster on the radios and actually listen and relay accurately. Fire dept should always respond with lights and sirens as if they would to a fire. CBP needs to have a team for this with equipment at hand to mitigate falls. This is tragic, she was so young, I think her name should’ve been shared in this video. The agents on the north side were desensitized which happens even though it’s harsh and not okay as far as sympathy goes. I feel bad that these agents go home with this loss. She was very young and likely alone. As she was from a different country than the other woman claimed to be.
