@@Jasonwithadot No, it's a John Lennon song. It had already been released on the soundtrack album to the 1987 documentary Imagine. The song was released as a John Lennon song. When Lennon was taken from this planet that was the end of any chance of a Beatles reunion. Then George. On the Anthology dvds they are always banging on about how the Beatles were like a square and if you take 1 part out it doesn't work. The Beatles officially broke up in 1970. I love the Beatles as much as anyone, but i can't accept the 3 tracks they released while John had passed away, and 1 while George had passed and who had bailed on Now and Then as true Beatles songs.

I've been listening to the Beatles Anthology version since it came out in 90's. This is the first time I heard the demo I am shocked how much better, soulful and meaningful the original recording sounds/feels. The video from anthology was wonderful with its graphics and feel. BUT It completely missed the heart of the song. It was a good video, but it really sold these lyrics and tonality short. This one touches the heart in a way the other doesn't. Thx for posting it.

I don’t get it; who’s doing the drums on this? And how can this be double tracked with John’s voice when it’s only a demo? My knowledge of this is bad, hence my question 😊

He had a drum machine. And a demo can still have multiple tracks.

@@IsaacWale2004 thank you! I’ve always been thinking that a demo back then only consisted of one track (like you just pressed ‘record’ on your tape recorder and that was it), but that’s not how it was?

@paulmclennon8296 I'm not an expert on the technology back then, but I imagine he used a 4-track recorder of some sort (recording each track separately, likely hearing the drum machine through headphones and using it as a metronome)
