I think you may need to till whole area and get soil tested to amend soil. Also need to really soak veges well ❤

I think you had a great attempt! Gardening is one lesson after another and no one ever gets it perfect. One thing that really helped me have a plentiful garden was not planting in mounds, but rather keeping everything flat and heavily mulching with a layer of compost (laid everywhere before planting), newspaper (laid in walk ways and around plants), and then hay (eventually laid everywhere; did it in phases of walkways, around plants, then around sprouted seeds once they grew a few inches). The first year I did this it turned everything into bumper crops, which honestly was overwhelming. 😅 But what I loved about it is that it improved the ground, looked so pretty, and was low maintenance because the mulching was so heavy that weeds couldn’t grow. Also, it kept everything hydrated during the hottest part of the summer so I still had some plants in the fall, which isn’t common in my area.

You need black earth, it's rich in nutrients. You can get free compost, leaves. You can send examples of your earth to are labor for little money.

Travelled that route many times. I have a strict policy, fill up in Cornwall, and never stop until i hit the Border. Always went Plaster Rock route to Miramichi. The moose problem is real. so I never drive at night. enjoy your new home. The people on the East coast, are a different breed. Stepped in tradition, once they except you, your family.

Thank you for sharing your journey! I live in the southern most area of Ontario, & had the blessed opportunity to stay 3 months this fall, in New Brunswick with my son. The east coast is now firmly in my heart ❤ I am constantly looking to move there. The best fish I have ever had, the fresh air , and the best part....the friendly people❣ I was blessed by conversing with strangers like we knew each other forever....I loved it ! Back in Ontario now & boy do I miss the people and the land. I lived in British Columbia for 30 plus years, granted it is a beautiful province...but the lifestyle is not for me, unless I were to live a solitary life in the mountains. Im looking forward to more of your videos & sharing with family. God bless & keep you.
