I think there's no other day of the calendar you can immediately relate to a historic event. Like it's not a day of the calendar, it's an event. If you have something planned on 9/11, you got that immediate reference popping in your brain. I got a colleague born that date and it's impossible to wish him a happy birthday without thinking about this, actually it even helps to not forget his birthday (even though he was born in the 90's) like "oh yeah you were born THAT day". I don't think there are other events or historic facts that made this effect. Even historic events such as beginning and end of WW1 and WW2, Hiroshima/Nagasaki, Chernobyl or the fall of Berlin wall you don't necessarily know the exact date or call those events by their dates instead of those terrorist attacks. The closer day would be january 1st as it's the first day of the year and it's every year but i don't see anything else.
