Supernatural's weakness in the post-Kripke era is that they forgot that Supernatural is supposed to be a horror show(Without being allowed to actually be a horror show). That's the main reason why angels were badass. Moreso than the writing, performances, and superior effects.

The first 3.5 minutes with Dean fits, but the last minute with Sam does not. Dean has little regard for paradox and science. Sam gets these things. He would understand that any of their attempts to break up their parents enters into modified Grandfather Paradoxes (by eliminating the person who arrived at this moment with the experiences that would create that warning). As such, in order for them to deliver the warning, she has to ignore it. Sam would get that. Sam's goal would not be to convince her of anything, but that Dean needs to let go and accept past events.
