I am extremely reluctant on going to a specialist because I know I destroyed my wrist about a week ago and the XRAY looked fine but my wrist is in so much pain and it is not going away. The pain felt a lot like when I broke my ankle a few years back. It’s the weirdest sensation because it literally felt like wet noodles breaking and retracting. Now if I place my arm in certain angles my wrist absolutely feels so much pain. 😢

I was 20 years old working at a Gas station having a Football catch w/ a co-worker. He threw the ball hard as possible & it jammed my pinky which hurt like crazy. After a few weeks of tremendous pain & no ability to see a Doctor my finger healed closed against my hand. Fast forward 25 years later & yall telling me I have Dupuytrens yet I know the tissue in my hand was damaged & the body simply healed such as a callus. This whole time I thought my pinky was Broken yet now I have other fingers that are affected cuz I guess I worked too hard all those years. I also dropped a Pallet at work on my toe which broke the skin under my toe nail but the nail never fell off. Now my toe is forever changed sitting on a Callus of hardened flesh just like Dupuytrens. It’s literally that simple. The Body heals damaged tissue via hardening such into a Callus.

Hi. I was splinted for 12 weeks then splint went off and didnt need to wear it again. After splint was off for 2-3 days i began to know that the finger was droopy. The therapist checked out my mallet finger and tells me i have a 8 degree lag but then says my tendon is healed enough to begin finger exercises. He says my finger in the joint is stiff because of splinting in that position for very long time. But my finger when coming out of the splint was completely straight. But when i try to straighten it i am unable to straighten the fingertip does this mean my finger didnt healed properly? Or is it due to stiffness of DIPJ thst is preventing me from straightening it??? He also says dont be afraid to move and try best to bend or get it in a fist and that my bones will break first before my tendon will. 😂 Im just worried i dint have active extension on the tip of my index finger.

So thankful I did not get this done. Two days before surgery, a friend told me to look into PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) injections. I received injections in both wrists in Feb 2023 and April 2023 and was complete pain free in June 2023. Still pain free in April 2024 and even had a mountain bike accident and hurt my wrists (both swollen for several weeks). Thought I'd have to do PRP again but all healed and pain free!! Don't do this invasive surgery without first trying PRP!

I had a rope wrap around my finger and I pulled my finger out instinctively … the tip was lagged. Long story short: No Orthopedic Doctor around here in Flint, Michigan had CUSTOM SPLINTS like the Dr prescribed. They had splints alright but I had those same ones I got from Temu. I thought custom meant, made to fit. These plastic hyper extended tip splints were all they had so I snipped out the top because I couldn’t wear anything on top because it hurt there REAL BAD! So I taped it around my knuckle folds making sure I could move that second knuckle. My poor finger got so red and irritated from the tape. I basically customized my own splint with KZbin recommendations. Today is 10 weeks in and my finger has 10% lag. Dr said it won’t get 100% normal. Makes me mad that there’s no Orthopedic Dr that seems to understand mallet finger around here in Flint, Michigan. I doctored myself!!!! I was mad about it too. Dr Sarmast told me to calm down. He sent me on a wild goose chase for a custom splint. Stupid!!! I’m still in pain but he said the bony mallet has healed. I’m still reaching out for information. I faithfully wore my own device for 8 weeks.

My dupuytren's contracture HAD been getting worse for years both hands. Some descriptions of this syndrome say it is painless and for me that is mostly true except now and then I get intense burning painful sensation that only lasts a minute or something It might have to do with healing although I initially thought it was when it was increasing. This morning my right hand did the burning thing but afterwards I notice it is almost gone! and my left side seems to be remarkable reduced also but still oretty penounced. I wonder if something I am doing lately is helping? Three new things I started doing A 12 hour fasting B 1 ounce of extra virgin olive oil every day and C over a month ago now I added NAC to my suppliments the Now brand 1000mg which I snap in half and take half in the morning with breakfast and half with evening meal. I wonder if it is one of these? or a combination> Maybe something else idk I would love for some others to try these things for weeks and see if there is any improvement in tabletop test or if you experience the burning sensation?

I hope you read my comment cuz yall seem confused by Dupuytrens yet I am not cuz I recall very vividly the pain I felt w/ my Injury yet we are simply just tearing the tissues in our hands & the body is then hardening that tissue so I suggest do NOT overexert what you can & should do moving forward w/ your hands cuz yall tear the tissue & it’s only going to spread to new areas

I’m a guitar player, singer songwriter and I fractured my LH pinky finger in the base of the proximal phalanx. It healed with a malunion, malrotation and hyper extension and pseudo claw deformity. This was 1+ year ago now in March of 2021. Unfortunately the surgeon I went to originally just told me to buddy tape it and live with it. I went with his advice and didn’t get a second opinion till soem time later. The other surgeon I believe played local politics and after I told him the first surgeons opinion said yeah he agrees and it was a month (four weeks) from initial break. I didn’t get any other opinions till about four months ago. All surgeons said if I would’ve came to them first, they would’ve fixed it with reduction and aligning it. It just breaks my heart. I want to take the risk and do it. Cause I found a surgeon who seems very competent at banner univ in Phoenix named Joshua Hustedt. He’s slightly younger. He said 80% chance he could make it better 20% he could make it worse. However there’s no guarantees and every other surgeon I seen, probably five others, told me to just live with it cause it’s a large amount of risk for a little bit of rewards. You can see how the rotation of the finger makes it difficult to make certain chords and my wrist and forearm and entire hand has to compensate. It’s caused me discomfort. Not necessarily PAIN though. And that’s what I’m afraid of. It feels weird. It sits kinda low to. See the original X-ray. It’s all healed now. Definitely lost length with some shortening. I just heard it’s obviously not a good place to do surgery. Basically going in through a volar approach, completely resawing through bone just to shift it a bit to put pins it and make it more straight. I’m concerned it will make it worse. I have good mobility and not much stiffness. But i always want to crack my PIP knuckles and joints as it feels like it creates contracture due to rotation. My wrist also gets this strange striation sometimes. I’ve been driving myself nuts trying to decide because I only have the preauth for another few months so I need to make the decision now. I would love for it to be better. But man I’d hate myself if it was worse.

My Consultant at The Hand Clinic at Sheffield Northern General Hospital UK said ' Come back when you can't bend your fingers anymore' I have a large growing dupetryns nodule on my palm connected to my 3rd and 4th fingers. Good advice to get help as soon as you notice it - but not if you have NHS. If it's not life threatening make sure you're wealthy and can go private. My Hospital isn't interested. And my piano technique has deteriorated.

I'm a guitarist myself and was just told yesterday that I have this problem. Fortunately I caught it early. I had trigger finger in the same hand before this, which needed 3 cortisone shots and surgery. It's good to know treatments and surgery are available. I've also had many other health issues; I now fully appreciate everything our bodies can too, much of which we take for granted when we are young!
