If im backing into a campimg spot how do i get it to slide all the way back to get the clearance for a sharp turn?
@DemcoProducts3 сағат бұрын
Good morning! The Demco 18K and 21K Auto Slides are a Rack and Pinion Gear System design. Once the truck and trailer have turned just over 10 degrees, the hitch begins to slide rearward automatically. The more your turn the more it slides until you are at a full 14 inches of slide in a 90 degree turn. This works when traveling in forward or reverse direction. As the truck and trailer return to the straight position, the hitch will automatically slide back forward.

Thanks for your video. That is a good idea as it will decrease tire wear during turns on pavement. Get rid of those woosey auto looking rims and tires and install those wider looking planter rims and tires that you see sometimes. Is it long enuf to carry a MacDon FD261, - 61 foot head-?

Do you know the bed rail number to use with this hitch, mine won’t fit with a standard bed rail, front to back is good at 22 inch but side to side my rails are 29 inch and the hitch is 30 inch wide.

Most manufacturers have a right hand option. Maybe not great for the corn harvest as they seem to love leaving the auger out as they fill the cart so fast. We use two Elmer's 2500 bushel carts with tracks and right auger we love them.

I have an idea for an unload auger thet has the capability to unload from either the left or the right hand side. Also the unload auger spout needs a flapper cover that closes over the open end to keep the splattered mud out of the spout. When the auger arcs over into its stowed position, the flapper cover could be hinged to slap down on the open end to close the open end of the spout off. When the auger arcs over to dump into the truck, the flapper would just free fall to the vertical, open position. Depending on soil moisture conditions, sometimes you'll see mud splattered on the front wall of the cart from the back wheels of the tractor and some of the mud ends up inside the auger spout.

Can I install this unit in a 2023 Ford f250 that doesn’t have the puck system?
@DemcoProducts Жыл бұрын
Good morning, the 6175 is only for use with a Ford Truck equipped with the Ford Factory Goose Neck / 5th Wheel Prep Package in Ford F-250/F-350’s built 2011-2023. If the truck does not have a puck system, Demco has the frame brackets and the rails to install a 5th wheel hitch into the truck. The frame bracket kit is part number 8552040 for a 2023 Ford F250. The bed rails are part number 6071. If you have any further questions, please feel free to give us a call at (800) 543-3626. Thank you!

do a video on vehicle weight restrictions when using a tow dolly. Example, tow dolly rated at 5,000 pounds with 750 pounds tongue weight. A Chevy Traverse or compatible size vehicle hits the scale around 4,600 pounds which leaves a margin of 400 pounds. Since the dolly is carrying approximately 2/3 of the vehicle weight, motor, trans etc., what is the safety factor or any concerns. The usually weight ratio from front to rear is divided as 60/40 as a general rule for front wheel drive vehicles. I would love to see a clear video on this topic because there isn't any clarity on this topic, not even from dealerships or towing companies such as U-haul. Now with that said, a gas motor coach is usually rated at 5,000 maximum towing capacity and a diesel motor coach can tow considerable more, theoretically speaking. Of course the hitch type can be a limit as well. What is your take on this? Me, just curious. (I flat tow)
@DemcoProducts Жыл бұрын
We can't speak for all tow dollies, but we will speak to Demco’s Kar Kaddy Tow Dollies. Demco Kar Kaddy’s have a max tow capacity of 4,800 pounds. Our tongue weight is only approximately 100 pounds. We center the front axle of the towed vehicle directly over the tow dolly axle to handle the weight of the towed vehicle. The Kar Kaddy has a 3,500 pound axle weight rating. Depending on dolly model, they weigh approximately 675 - 700 pounds empty. (3,500 Axle Capacity - 700 pounds empty = 2,800 pounds of carrying capacity on the tow dolly.) The user of the dolly has to keep both the max tow capacity and the 3,500 pound axle weight capacity in mind. You are correct, the general rule is 60/40 for front wheel drive vehicles. 60% of the weight is on the front axle. If your vehicle is at the max weight capacity 4,800 pounds, using the 60/40 rule, we could potentially be right at the tow dolly axle weight limit. 4,800 x .60 = 2,880 pounds - keep in mind we do have about 100 pounds of tongue weight. If the vehicle has a heavier front/rear axle split than the 60/40 rule of thumb, a user could overload that axle of the tow dolly. The above figures are the Demco Kar Kaddy limitations. The user also has to review the coach limitations as well. If the coach limitations are less than the dolly capacity, then the user is limited to the coach towing capacity. We hope that clears things up.

Thanks for posting this - I have a Demco swiveling car dolly built in the 1980s (I believe it was made for one of the rental companies) that I am still using and between me and my friends (all gearheads/mechanics) we have towed several dozen cars with it over the years. One of these days I may add surge brakes to it as that would help greatly when towing heavier vehicles with a pickup truck, so thank you for that product line as well! And I am so glad to see that there are still American manufacturing companies that are a vital part of their local community - we need to get back to more of this like we used to before the last 40-50 years of off-shoring our manufacturing jobs. So thank you for caring about your employees and your community!

@DemcoProducts Жыл бұрын
Demco does not recommend dolly or dinghy towing the new Chevrolet Corvette C8. Please reference the “Recreational Vehicle Towing” section of your vehicle’s owner’s manual. It will state: CAUTION Dolly Towing or dinghy towing the vehicle may cause damage because of reduced ground clearance. Always put the vehicle on a flatbed truck or trailer. We hope that helps answer your question.

We do not require a safety pin to be utilized when you are hooked up using our EZ Latch coupler, therefore, we do not offer one. If you’d prefer to use one you still can, but it is not required. There are different options available through different coupler lock manufacturers. One lock that works well with our couplers is an anti-theft-purpose pin made by Trimax. Their part number is TC123. I know this is an old video, but I can't find the answer on Google. I'm borrowing an old Denali, and the battery drained over night, every night. It's got a short somewhere and it's owners wouldn't let me do anything but put a new battery in it and some disconnects. I put a disconnect on the positive and one on the negative, will this completely cut off any possibility of overnight drainage? Edit: when they put the original disconnect on it, they put it on the positive side, and it still drained that's why I've put two on it.
@DemcoProducts2 жыл бұрын
The answer is yes, adding a battery disconnect to the positive post of the battery would stop any type of battery draw. It would not be necessary to add a disconnect on both terminals.

@DemcoProducts2 жыл бұрын
By disconnecting the negative battery terminal, the towed vehicle’s modules have the ability to pick up a stray ground from the coach. As you are connected to the coach with the towbar the towed vehicle will use this connection to pick up a ground. Remember with the basic 12V system voltage finds the path to least resistance.
