On every trip from Pyle to Porthcawl, the engine had to be turned on Tondu Depot turntable to ensure equal wear on the coupled-wheelbase, such was the curvature of the bends..

Hi Ben. Sorry to reach put on KZbin. But do you have any books or research material you'd recommend when it comes to the old stations of Neath? I'm particularly interested the locations and old photos. But I've found it difficult thus far. Kind regards, Alun.
@TheOpenBoatDAFFODIL2 ай бұрын
@alunrhydderch1786 Hi there. I didn't manage to get any books on the Neath area I'm afraid. Most of the research I did on the area was online by trawling through images on Google, or doing searches on various railway Facebook groups. It's amazing how much stuff is out there. I can recommend the National Library of Scotlands map archive though. maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=13.8&lat=51.66959&lon=-3.80839&layers=168&b=1&o=100

I can't help but think of how much watching neat Train Simulator gameplay videos would make great fascinating _Railway Series_ stories, if I was liable to have the creative mind to write me a good story or two, which unfortunately is something I don't seem to possess to make redeemable for not just myself, but for the people that's heavily inspired and in connection of the universal lore of the _Railway Series_ and _Thomas & Friends_ franchise as an entire whole.

This is amazing. Well done. Looks like the valley is flooded a bit in Cefn Coed under the Viaduct, but in the photo it looks that way too wierdly.

Another fab video Ben! Just loved the details of the complex junctions, esp Bird In Hand (named after the nearby pub). Seems there are very few old photos of the junction at the start of Crumlin viaduct - think this was a double track incline down to join the lower Western Valleys route at Llanhilleth ? My old Dad often talked of the route thru Maesycwmmer Station under the Hengoed Viaduct - on the way to Bedwellty Grammar School i think.
