nce video have you ever striped a Ray Marine sea talk cable? I'd like to cut it's connector off an replace w/ NMEA2K. basicely not using the 6th wire that Ray uses.

Hi Steve, A comment??? I wasn't watching for that. I basically use this page for our Electronic's classes, which doesn’t start until Winter Quarter. I actually need to redo these videos so you can see what I'm doing better. Anyways, you can put a N2K field connector onto a SeaTalk ng cable. SeaTalk ng is basically NMEA 2000, just with Raymarine proprietary connectors. Raymarine also sells adapter cables that go between NMEA 2000 and SeaTalkng, which is what I primarily use. However, to put a field connector on, you just use the red/black/blue/white/shield cables like a normal NMEA 2000 cable. And cut back the Raymarine 6th wire (yellow), which is used for old SeaTalk1 information when plugging into the ST60 or ST70 with a special adapter cable, I believe. Sorry I didn't see this sooner. Hopefully this helps or you already figured it out.
