Thats a sad story to hear, glad he is doing well for himself. People usually say you enjoy things you can relate to in some aspects, and i think people relate to emotions from other humans. Usually those emotions are stronger shown by people that have been through hardships.

Lecrae says he deserves death because Romans 6:23 says "The wages of sin is death". He admits that he, just like the liars and hypocrites he mentions, is a sinner and by a Holy God's standard,deserves death. 1 John 1:8 says "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us". What Lecrae is speaking IS truth. He ackowledges his own faults, as well as the faults of the culture that he was bred in. He reinforces that he (like all of us), by a Holy God's standard, is still in need of being cleaned as he ackowledges that his good works are dirty period rags. This sentiment is seen in Isaiah 64:6 "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.". He doesnt stop at that though because the story doesnt end at what sinners owe for their sin (their life). It ends on the payment being made IN OUR STEAD. Jesus the sinless perfect Lamb of God paid the price we deserved. THAT is Lecrae's entire point. We are all a part of "the party" but instead of watching the party die, Jesus died in its place. John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world , but to save the world through him" My prayer is that you are not one of the ones that both lecrae mentioned and that the bible reinforces > 1 Corinthians 1:18 "For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishin, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." This song is fire. I enjoyed the reaction as well! God bless!
