What kind of professional do we call for something like this?

I got something similar where I see the efflorescence, but I also notice like you have where the bricks take on this blackish color like the concrete bricks your look at to the left. It doesnt look like mold, I think it's water stains. I fixed the problem, the previous owner had a crack in the sprinkler and just let it run and cause the whole yard to be wet and it was leaking into the walls of the basement. Am I correct on that blackish stain on the bricks?

Bad Advice. The worst thing you can do is paint an interior basement wall if it is presenting with moisture or efflorescence. Paint or waterproof barriers only serve to hide the problem temporarily and then it is much more difficult to diagnose or fix because you can’t “read” the wall.

IMHO the video doesn't go deep enough into the science behind efflorescence. The video makes it seem like there are only horses of one color, where in reality efflorescence is akin to a herd of horses with many colors. Folks that found their way here, please don't think that this is all there is to learn about efflorescence.

The only way to get rid of efflorescence is to seal your foundation from the outside.

You don't have to be an engineering Co. to inspect homes. Frankly he never said you should brush the salts off the wall .
