I am capable of predicting up to 6 moves of my opponents into the future, provided I've fought them before, but constant red parries and 360 hits on onehanded weapons have been the bane of my existence because of timeskips thanks to server lag. I find a lot of these annoying and are potentially game breaking. But for me what kills me, is how some weapons seem to be able to pass through more terrain than others, especially larger weapons and not so much for smaller weapons. It obfuscates which swings are threats and which are not. I have often fought against Zweis or pole hammers where most of their swing passes through terrain/walls but the swing is still active. I feel like i have to gamble my blocks away in certain situations. I have noticed it the most on Grad and Totenwald. I also play in 3rd person so it is possible that it is just the 3rd person perspective and the swings aren't actually passing through terrain, but I am confident that it certainly looks as though the swings do. Am I the only one who has noticed this? I am a level 200, played since the game came out. If you play on east servers we might have played together. I am "Epithet of Many Names"

I wish the AEC Mk. III was better against infantry. I like to use it with the Royal Engineers Regiment to turn it into a command vehicle early on, but it's really just bad against infantry... and medium tanks... and even buildings and some light tanks... It's immune to rifles, but it's completely vulnerable to snares. Infantry with bazookas or 'schrecks are a HUGE nope, and so are absolutely any field gun crews. It's basically a mini Firefly for the early game, but the Bofors stays strong for a lot longer than the little AEC, plus it can shoot down planes and pin squads with indirect fire, while remaining perfectly effective against infantry. The price is about the same too, and I think the Bofors can even tank more mortar shots than the AEC. If I could, I would give the command vehicle upgrade to a Bren Carrier and just build Bofors and Tanks like normal, but you can't give the upgrade to the carrier (for some reason). Going for the Bofors AND the AEC seems like an expensive waste of fuel. Basically, the AEC is fine, but the Bofors (as you have demonstrated) is GODLY; the Bofors is leagues above the AEC in terms of pretty much everything!
@yodagaming Жыл бұрын
they specifically nerfed giving the UC the command aura because too many axis mains complained it was grossly OP regarding the AEC though, its technically not immune to rifles as AP buff rifle ammo (mg42) will shred it and any autocannon (scout car) will pen it i play mostly 1v1 or 2v2 so it basically means im forced to get AEC over bofors 100% of the time, i hardly ever build a bofors period since its super nerfed these days so doubly worse if you actually wasted fuel going AEC and bofors at the same time AEC is basically mandatory to stop an early light vehicle rush, its the only tool brits have to effectively deal with them yes you can go for 6pdr supported by engi-> piat but thats wildly ineffective to actually chase down light vehicles once they spot your equipment i dont use AEC for anti infantry roles either because it deals very poor dps
@lordtomlluckrahthegreat9014 Жыл бұрын
@@yodagaming I think the command vehicle upgrade's nerf to the vehicle that possess it is a bit too harsh in terms of how much the ability costs. It's 75 ammunition to essentially drop the DPS of the vehicle in question to a quarter or a third of what it usually deals! You need about three squads or two tanks near the CV to make up for the loss in percentage of DPS! I think they could make it so that command vehicles move faster and have more HP, both by 30%, plus they get shared veterancy, so they don't need to do combat directly. Or maybe they can sit at base or a forward assembly to boost reinforcement rates? Maybe you can park it near a cache to boost generation of munitions or fuel? Really, I think there's a lot of wasted potential with the idea of a command vehicle for the UKF. The Wehrmacht gets doctrinal, specific command Panzer VIs, and the abilities of this vehicle are a lot more fleshed out, I feel. And speaking of Royal Engineers with PIATs, I was pondering maybe trying out a combination of doctrinal Recovery Squads with PIATs, an Assault Commander with a Bren gun and an AEC command vehicle. I was thinking that, with the "Heroic Charge" ability, I can make my PIATs move as fast as the AEC, which in turn will boost the accuracy and reload rate of their PIATs, making them deadly even against mediums. The plan is as follows: the AEC and PIATs hunt down enemy armor, then I can scavenge fuel and ammo from the dead vehicle with the PIAT-wielding recovery squad. If the car gets damaged, the engies can fix it; if the engies get hurt, the AEC can fix itself with the doctrinal ability, while the engies retreat; if things get hairy or if there is a lot of infantry, every unit in the formation can pop smokes, plus the officer has gammon bombs, automatic fire and artillery. Go anvil tactics before getting a Cromwell for the heavy engineers upgrade and improved artillery strikes. When the AEC dies, then get a command Cromwell. This seems like the sort of plan that doesn't survive contact with the enemy, though... but maybe it could work. Btw, in 1v1s, if the Bofors sucks so bad that nobody uses it competitively, does that mean that people use the Vickers for suppression? I like the Vickers a lot, but, personally, I feel like it is really weak compared to all other machine guns in the game, which is why I like building Bofors. Am I missing something? What are the strengths of the Vickers? Do you ever use it, and when?
@yodagaming Жыл бұрын
@@lordtomlluckrahthegreat9014 theres a lot of balance problems with the game but the command thing is honestly minor compared to something as stupid as ostheer having t0 mg42, the game has never been fair since then the issue with the command vehicle is mainly the recon loiter which quite literally is the single reason you should ever bother with it because vision = winning matches (soviet sniper/mortar having ranged flares has kept the faction historically top tier in comp play) entire plays only occur because you dont know whats in the fog of war, knowing in advance lets you preemptively deal with it or go around it, a lot of games mechanics are negated by the mere knowledge of where a unit is (hmgs) for the royal engi point, i always get piats on them anyway because the sten is not worthwhile to use in midgame or endgame as they will lose to every infantry in dps recovery squads are pretty great early game but they share the same fate of royal engis in that endgame they cant compete in dps so you might as well run double PIAT ive tested over and over the double bren + heavy and theyre...... not impressive, the critical issue is that they have low accuracy + dont survive very well meaning they can only beat maybe a volks at best on the other hand heavy engis with piat and using the buff for repair speed is extraordinarily efficient overall there is no "bad" build you can do with brits, outside of bofors every single unit has its use and you likely will build all of them throughout the entire match unless its has a doctrinal replacement on your final point, yes, i see everyone build HMG vickers. i build one 100% of the time, the only rare time i did not build one was near release of brits when brits had godlike survivability and it was better to go 4 sections -> 5 man -> cromwell but this era of the game is long gone vickers id put it.... around middle of the best of the HMGs, worst is maxim so in usability levels itd be maxim < us 50cal < mg34 < vickers < dushka < mg42 vickers is very reliable and it has the longest HMG range in the game so putting it in a house or trench so it can self spot, you will see it do incredible work
@lordtomlluckrahthegreat9014 Жыл бұрын
@@yodagaming I'm learning a lot from this. I think it's about time that I admit that I haven't ever played a match against humans yet; I've played about 150 matches Vs AI, with all factions except OKW (I don't quite like playing as the über-wehrawoo-nazi faction, plus I already have access to Ost which is cooler anyways, so I never bought it), and I've mostly played 1v1 with a Hard AI, but recently I've been trying to play 2v2, with all standard AIs. Frankly, I think I'm not prepared to play against humans yet, but that's besides the point. What I'm trying to get to is that only recently I discovered that the Hard AI cheats! Not only does it get a lot more resources, but it also can see right through the Fog of War! And now that you've made your point, about the importance of vision in the game, a lot of things are starting to click... For example, the reason I would build a Bofors instead of a Vickers is because you can't flank a Bofors, and because it's a lot more resistant to artillery. The fact that the AI always knew where my machineguns were conditioned my into thinking that machineguns are weak and defenceless, or at least only useful when there are more units around, protecting it and giving it recon. The Vickers is designed to shoot from a garrisoned position from far away, which made it ideal for the AI to neutralise it after I had gained ground, since I would often leave it where it was, entrenched. After setting the AI to Standard, things changed. Also, you've made me realise that I don't play UKF correctly. I almost never use the recon plane on the command vehicle :p, instead I go the Soviet way and I send in a lone squad to scout the FOW, get shot, call for artillery and back away to a forward assembly. This is fine in Dawn of War, but not in this game; I promise to use the plane ability much more often, as well as flares and camo'd snipers. But, going back to the HMGs, I think it's curious that you say the .50cal is the second worst, because I've seen many people agreeing that it's the best HMG in the game, specially after it gets veterancy and in the context of 1v1s, because it can pen light vehicles and ignores some cover, it can setup really quick and because it has a wider cone-of-fire than the Dushka. I've tried the .50cal myself and I think it's really bad: it's got terrible suppression, damage, it pens less than the MG42 with incendiary ammo and it's got a thin cone-of-fire! Plus, it doesn't make sense that a .50 BMG machine gun would be that maneuverable since it's really heavy compared to the others (why they didn't go with the .30cal is beyond me). And I also agree that the MG42 is OP. I think you should have the option of buying an MG34 at tier 0 and an MG42 only after going to tier 1 and, if you bought an MG34, you can upgrade it to an MG42 after tier 1 too. It's a bit ridiculous that you can basically lock down a third of the map one minute into the game. Honestly though, the Vickers is a good HMG, but one thing I really don't like about is that, since you are meant to put it in a trench or a building, it's really susceptible to vanishing after all the crew die within. If the crew die inside a building, you loose the gun, which sucks a lot. You not only loose all the veterancy, but you have buy a whole new gun and re-deploy it to the field, which takes a lot of time and manpower. As a final note, I'll say that I like 2v2 a lot more than 1v1. 4v4 seems too chaotic and macro-heavy, with a lot of artillery and heavy tank spam, while 1v1 is super micro-oriented, with a lot of grenade spam, mines and punishing squad wipes! In 4v4 it feels like you aren't contributing anything to the fight, and in 1v1 it's infinitely more personal, and all the responsibility (and pressure) falls on your shoulders. 2v2 feels a lot better than either, so once I start playing against people, I'll probably go for that. I have a friend who owns COH2. He doesn't ever play it, but maybe I can convince him to play with me. He kinda sucks at the strategy-part of RTS, but he's got god-like micro from years of playing that forsaken "League of Legends" abomination of a game. If we coordinate well, we'll do fine.

@@lordtomlluckrahthegreat9014 the AI kind of needs cheats because it really doesnt play smart or build decent armies it will just create very cookie cutter compositions. i play only against expert AI since hard/normal/easy are too trivial and expert AI is identical to hard except that it has a resource multiplier the AI difficulty essentially scales up or down their reaction times, i havent see anything like more intelligent plays outside of fog of war knowledge. its very noticeable in retreat scenarios though, if a unit is very lit the expert bot will roll a dice to see if it instantly retreats or not, compared to easy bots where sometimes theyll just let the units die because thats how long their delay for actions is it also makes the AI be able to do frame perfect grenadier rifle nades the moment they get in range which can create some nasty wipes if your APM isnt up to par i do enjoy expert bots as it allows me to just try any build i can possibly think of, test unit builds to see if their DPS is good enough in a live scenario and still not be throwing the game if i did the same in a pvp match brits having that flare arty is so great but now with smokes its even more amazing, i forgot to mention that smokes + vision is what actually cracks open well defended areas in real pvp people love to lock down certain areas of a map because theyre small so literally the only way to deal with it is denying line of sight with smoke as the mgs wont fire at smoked units HMGs do kind of need to be in a good cover spot like a building or green cover because they have higher than average receiving hit %, thats part of the balance theory that you spend munitions in order to instantly evaporate said bunkered HMGs, or resort to alternative tools like flamethrowers or mortars (both get a flat % damage if units are in buildings instead of relying on rng) the issue with maxim and 50cal is that it has very fucking bad vet 0 suppression stat so it fails at its one purpose which is to pin blobs quickly, way too often people will be able to merely react and pull back away from your HMGs then flank them while any other HMG youd get punished for it 50cals and maxims used to instantly pin just like mg42s lmao but that got nerfed with vickers, it doesnt exactly instapin but the monster range it has means that units simply dont ever get close to it and it deals ridiculous dps 1v1, 2v2, 3v3/4v4 all have different metas and the game is way out of whack in what you can do in a 1v1 you cant build 5 snipers, youd get instantly demolished for such a build but in 4v4 thats actually quite practical since you have 3 teammates to cover up your mistakes. 3v3 and 4v4 also see heavy use of ultra endgame commanders like elefant, isu152, or jagdtiger because games do often last that long and theres nothing to break the tank wall, if you ran those commanders in 1v1 youd get laughed at 2v2 i would say its the hardest to coordinate overall as it uses tiny 1v1 map sizes yet theres 2 people on the map meaning it gets incredibly chaotic and campy

ive been saying this for years but one of the easier fixes/updates that would help the swing manipulation bullshit is to lower the damage if the weapon connects too early or too late, IE you have a "sweet spot" of maximum damage that the weapon does when it swings as intended and its less than ideal to hit too early or too late.

@@TheLunarMan it would definitely reduce their efficiency, but that's nearly the entire point. drags/accels are what make the abuse of weapon animations possible. it would still be a tactic to use drags/accels to grab quick and cheap damage, but with a "sweet spot" of damage, it would prioritize hitting your opponent with the intended use of your weapon's animation
