Wet belts or belt-in oil systems are a horrible idea! Use a chain or dry timing belt.

Worst design ever! All because "environmentalists" are forcing ludicrous and completely unnecessary emissions and MPG standards. They hate private cars and want to make cars unaffordable for all but the elite.

too stupid for words. In this day and age the things people and companies get away with, and the audacity to implement things that are clearly designed to fail, is breath taking. Why aren't there massive class action lawsuits going on worldwide?

We were always taught oil rots rubber components then manufacturers go and make this abortion of an engine with a belt constantly running in oil hopefully someone makes a retrofit chain upgrade eventually!

Just run a Jessel belt drive that is clearly visible, runs in air and doesn’t dump rubber in your oil system. This is nothing more than backwards engineering☹️
@rocon86Ай бұрын
If you follow the recommended service intervals from Ford, that belt will fail long before it. There's no belt or rubber on this planet that can cope with the stress and oil temperature of an engine. It's a stupid idea that will hopefully, bankrupt Ford. I'm shocked Ford are still in business, this is a scam.

How exactly does this belt in oil system improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions? Where is your data? I'll tell you what this reduces: Manufacturing costs. I'll tell you what it increases: Maintenance costs. Extra oil changes will involve more environmental impact form oil extraction, refining and disposal. You're lying to our faces. Oh wait I got it! When the vehicle experiences a completely grenaded engine and pukes it's vitals all over the ground, it will to consume any fuel or produce any more emissions. Is that what you mean?

Such instances underscore the importance of ensuring knowledgeable individuals are engaged in technical discussions. It is evident when misinformation is disseminated, as exemplified by an individual's misidentification of essential components and misalignment of technical terminology. Specifically, referencing a cambelt submerged in oil alongside visuals of an engine equipped with a timing chain demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of automotive mechanics. To put it simply, this guy is a knobwasher and from now on I will only buy Continental cambelts.

I'm curious to know what the emissions delta is between simply running a chain drive and having to make and replace all of those components.
@ritecomment20989 ай бұрын
they dont work, they swell the belt irrespective of what oil is used, they cause the belt to degrade, we dont want them. ford is ditching them for their ecoboom engine that had major problems destroying the engine because of this. go away and stop talking about belt-in-oil. They say "lifetime of the engine" but "lifetime" means how long the belt will last. This is an utter scam by belt / engine manufacturers
