It’s ironic how many people moved to Canada because Australia exploited them to fund its education system without offering permanent residency. I was a victim of their harshest immigration policies. It’s ruthless how a change in government can completely alter eligibility criteria. On top of that, the racism in Australia is far worse compared to Canada, making it an even less welcoming environment. Be grateful to Canada, a country that embraced you even though you hadn’t contributed to its economy before arriving.
@Whatsnextakanksha5 сағат бұрын
1. You cannot contribute to any economy without being physically present there. 2. Racism in Canada is worse than Australia, experienced it first hand. 3. Australian immigration policies may be harsh but they only invite good and skilled people which is why the society is so great to live in. 4. I am grateful that I got the opportunity to live in Canada but it is a symbiotic relationship where the country needs skilled labour and money from immigrants as well. It is not a favour anyone’s doing on the other. 5. No country promises permanent residency after education, you write in your statement of purpose that your only motive is to study there and not live permanently after.
@amithvijayakumar18964 сағат бұрын
@ 1. While physical presence is indeed required to contribute directly to an economy, international students often pay significantly higher tuition fees, which fund the education system and contribute to the local economy even before they settle. 2. I understand that experiences with racism can vary, but my own experience in Australia was significantly worse compared to Canada. This is a personal perspective based on what I’ve witnessed and felt. 3. While Australian immigration policies may aim to attract skilled individuals, it’s problematic when those same skilled people are treated unfairly or are left in limbo due to sudden changes in policy. A great society is one that values the contributions of all its members, not just their qualifications. 4. I agree that immigration is a symbiotic relationship. However, when countries actively seek skilled individuals, they have a responsibility to treat them fairly and transparently, not as disposable sources of revenue. 5. While it’s true that no country guarantees permanent residency after education, the issue arises when the promises implied or marketed to international students aren’t followed through, leaving them in precarious situations.

All the people who has worked outside of India would understand the difference. Enconomic growth - yes, but this is not big thing, because as the country grows in size, economic growth will be there. But the growth is not in the right direction. Religious intolerance is increasing, roads are getting busier and many roadblocks, pollution, lesser life span due to road accidents, the unhygienic way hotels manage food, the adulteration to get more profit, the government offices where nothing gets done, the crime rate and the list goes on. Damage is beyond repair. Period.

Ask yourself, is hate the answer?
@joebloggs39077 күн бұрын
@Whatsnextakanksha Tell me what the answer is? When the influx of immigrants has directly contributed to the housing crisis, inflation and the inability to get entry level jobs? What would you do?
@Whatsnextakanksha7 күн бұрын
@ that’s the government’s bad planning. How is an immigrant responsible for it? And if they are, blame all immigrants, including Europeans. Not that they are also at fault. Canada’s situation is bad but the government is at fault for not taking the right steps. Hate is never the answer to anything.
@joebloggs39077 күн бұрын
@Whatsnextakanksha I 💯 % agree its the governments faults. But rarely do governments represent the people but rather choose to act in the interests of powerful corporations looking for cheap labor and landlords and real estate developers that see their property and rent prices skyrocket. Think about it, If governments would act in the interest of the people, maybe you would not have needed to leave India in the first place Those who suffer are those who manifest this hurt via racial attacks. They see immigrants as the cause of their inability to live a secure and comfortable life and fear for their children. By attacking immigrants, they hope less and less will come in. So, it's a strategy that can be successful. If the foot was in the other shoe, I 💯% believe you would act the same way. If you, your loved ones, friends, and family are suffering, that will be your number one priority. So, to summarize, you want a better life, which is completely understandable. On the other hand, the Canadians and Westerners in general also want the same thing, and when their standards decline as they have in Canada, it is understandable that racism and hatred will prevail. And it's not even racial. Even if the immigrants were white, it would not make a difference. The hate would be the same. It wouldn't be based on race but nationality. Just like Polish people were once hated in Europe (despite being white) because they lowered wages in the West.

@@Whatsnextakanksha The problem with most of our Indian community is that we don’t have a basic civic sense. Emptying the food banks, not leaving ample space while standing in queues, Boarding the bus before allowing the passengers to step out, unnecessary blowing of horns etc. I can list down a lot of things. I understand racism does feel terrible but come on, we gotta do better. We, Indians cannot behave like how we do in our home country. We are in their land. We need to appreciate their culture, their values and ultimately be a useful source to their economy, not a burden on them.
