Love Yoon; not in love with Shostakovich. Yoon cannot even save this piece. Please, Soyoung, stick with Mozart and Bach.

On repeatedly listening this is the best Mendelssohn I have heard since early 1960s, especially the last movement. Now the volume of the video has adjusted high as should be, we can hear all nuances and energy of her playing.

The artist has a deep understanding for the music of Shostakowitch. That aiiows Soyoung Yoon to give us a n emotionally moving interpretation. That lets us forget to even think about her awesome brilliant skills. Dr.J.Frölich

I always think she plays her last movements the best whether it is Beethoven, Mendelssohn or Tchaikovsky. Here is no exception. She is visibly fired up. So is the orchestra and the audience at the end. Bravo Soyoung. Best since I heard Kogan and Oistrakh.

I had been wondering for a while what this violinist’s Shosti 1 would sound like, after having sampled a clip of her practicing that audacious cadenza. Curiosity satisfied, as Ms. Yoon brings much Main Character Energy to a spectacular performance of a work known to grind lesser fiddlers who aren’t able to ride this wild bronco of a concerto down into the ground. A unique amalgamation of suavity, sass, and a smile that says, “I’m kinda enjoying this. How about you?” Worthy of repeat watches.

Wonderful tempo. The particularly fond of the interpretation of the Scherzo you've performed here. The colors both profound and unique while not pulling from in my ignorance what i believe the piece would portray. third movement: no words. finesse. Thank you for your hard work and sharing this performance.

I thought the volume was too low when I heard this 2 years ago. I heard this again now, and the volume was adjusted much louder. I can now hear the best audio and can appreciate her playing in full. It is fully justified that this is the best Mendelssohn that I heard in this generation of violinists.

I don't listen to interpretations by Asians as a matter of principle. I don't think that's just prejudice, but I don't feel anything for all these Asians. Nothing. Technically brilliant, as often, but somehow I always lack the European soul that has grown up with this Western European music for centuries. You can practice our music from the front and vice versa 14 hours a day until your fingers bleed, but that certain something is missing. Whether it's Lang Lang or an Asian. The same on all instruments. Played perfectly, but with semi-feelings that aren't right. Compare that with Vengerow and you can already hear the difference in the first bars. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqfFn5eOq8h9rZI
