What sucks with mine being a Non AC I have to remove the whole fan box/heater assembly! In any case Im enjoying your videos! Great video thank you, I’ll be doing something similar soon, just building up another red block with rods, pistons and all the goodies. How do you rate the manifold?.
@DanWithAPlan666Ай бұрын
@arkeyethenoo The manifold isn't bad, but could obviously be better when it comes to weight and flow design. For anyone wanting a bolt on solution that gives the correct angles to fit directly to the head and accept a t3/t4 turbo in a way that it fits in the space available without having to modify things, I'd say it's a great peice of kit. Sounds like you're building for big power!

@DanWithAPlan666Ай бұрын
@shayqo some parts yes. Especially the performance parts as they are the closest place that specialises in volvo parts, with a lot of off the shelf solutions like conversion kits and upgrade kits that are made to fit.
@shayqoАй бұрын
Yes I do the same thing but I live in France. I have a Volvo 940 like yours but I'm keeping the original TD 04 13c and hoping to put out 250hp with the classic swede stage 3 chip, a 3" exhaust line, 3" intake and 14.5 psi turbo boost. with an ethanol conversion with the Bosch 440CC injector

Excellent video, thank you. You probably saved my 940 which is now back together and working again following changing the heater matrix. This video combined with the "Volvo 940 NON AC heater matrix swap notes" video from @mikestinyshedofdreams meant that I could see 1) what needs to be removed and 2) how to remove it. With this information I found the job straight forwards (helped by the fact that I had plenty of time). Without this information it would have been a total nightmare for me.

Hi Dan, Is there any chance you could reinstate your excellent "Project Turbo Brick Ep2 (Volvo 940 Heater Matrix Removal)" video please? The URL for the video is currently showing "This video is private". It helped me a lot ~1 month ago when I took it all apart, and would be useful to have again as a reference now I am putting it all back together with a new matrix.

Hi dan, how many miles/km has this car and what was the problem ? Thx
@DanWithAPlan666Ай бұрын
@MarineEnfield09 It has 192,000 miles. The problem was partially solved with a new turbo so the old one was slightly leaking oil, but the main issue was oil control rings becoming clogged and letting oil past so it got burned and ended up blocking the dpf. A common issue ok VAG group 2.0l engines both petrol and diesel unfortunately 😕

why do Europeans not care about freedom of the vehicles they drive? i woulda just took the entire emissions system off, tune it and call it a day. the literal only singular downside would be the police whining about smoke
@DanWithAPlan666Ай бұрын
@ngelemental2274 in the UK every vehicle has to pass an annual inspection which checks safety and legal compliance of the vehicle including the function of the emissions system. They are very strict on this and will fail your car if they detect any tampering, leaving the thing unusable. If you get caught driving around without a valid inspection certificate (MOT) you have 7 days to get one or your in trouble. This then leads to fines, points on your license, license revocation and vehicle crushing. We can also have our vehicles taken and Crushed for not having valid insurance and road tax. Wherever you are from, you are lucky its not here 😄

Fill expansion tank.. tighten cap... Remove return pipe . Using an air gun at about 2 psi stick that into the return port in the expansion tank. You may need to refill the tank again...to me it beats any vacuum system. Put the return pipe into a plastic coke bottle or similar . Pull the trigger.. and the system is full.
@DanWithAPlan6662 ай бұрын
@donlive2758 unfortunately I don't have an air line. But also I just wanted to follow the official workshop instructions from Skoda so it was cheaper and more fun to attempt to replicate the manufacturers tool. I didn't think it would work half as well as it has done. It only needed a tiny top up afterwards thankfully 😅

Good luck with the build mate. You are going the same route with your 940 just as I want to go with mine. I wish we would have parts stores like that in Peru. Just curious, have you considered welding/strenghtening your m90 3rd gear when getting it out of the car? Mine has a 96 m90 so I'm planing on doing it by the time I too get a flywheel conversion kit, some day soon I hope

@machodrilo Thanks man! I have decided to only do bolt on mods for now as I don't plan on going over 300bhp as most of the weak points of the set up will take tha, and I don't plan to abuse the car too much 😅 but if something big breaks, that's when I'll do a fully built engine and gearbox and have more power in a safer set up.

I'm sure 1 minute 30 seconds should have been enough. I pressed the microwave symbol, the time 99.99 or something flashed up then I stood over the microwave counting backwards for another minute, food was very hot. Is there anyway you can clean through lambda sensor whole?
@DanWithAPlan6667 ай бұрын
It would be possible but there is a danger of cleaning fluid/water reaching the turbo where it would cause corrosion and possible contamination if it leaks into oil seals or waste gate or into the exhaust ports and down towards the valves and cylinders. The height of the top of the cat is higher than all of the above, so a thorough clean would be impossible without a high risk of water/chemical damage. Not to mention the residue that might sit on any sensors left in place giving reading errors going forward.
@BHPRemappingcarboncleaningauto7 ай бұрын
Hi mate, what is the tool for pushing the engine forward and what was your version??
@DanWithAPlan6667 ай бұрын
The tool is called an "engine support bracket" and has a code of T10533 in the workshop manual. An example of one can be found on ebay item number 323027210102. I used 2 pieces of angle iron with a threaded bar through them and some nuts and washers to lock one end and screw the other end along as seen in the video. If you want to do this I recommend at least m10 size threaded bar as mine was bowing a lot and it was m8 if IIRC.

Where did you get it from? Link plz. Edit: just noticed that you got a 230fk too. Does your engine bay runs considerably hotter? I got a 230fk+egr which i just recently deleted. My bay and intercooler hoses do feel pretty hot after a normal run
@DanWithAPlan6667 ай бұрын
www.classicswede.org is the site I got the parts from. I haven't noticed any excess heat from the engine bay. Is your temp gauge running correctly? Could be a coolant issue or fan/thermostat issue. Could also be a faulty o2 sensor causing the mixture to run lean or timing to run advanced. All will cause excess heat, but any sensor issues should throw an engine light.

It's Impossible to say as it will behave differently with different size turbos. It's best to hook up a gauge and turn the knob bit by bit until you have the boost you want.

That was the most annoying job I've ever seen to remove a dpf, I drive a Citroen C5 tourer as a taxi and the dpf is right at the front, 12 or so bolts to take the whole thing out or 3 bolts to take the actual dpf out it's a split system. I was thinking of getting a Skoda superb tourer as the next taxi but I'm having second thoughts now, I do all my own servicing and that would be a pain in the hole for me. They say German engineering is good but I think the french do it better from what I saw there, everything is easy to access.

When you put the screw in to undo the hub nut, you got lucky. The whole twisting force is taken by the small T30/philips screw holding the disc on. It's best to put a couple of wheel bolts in place and actually remove the screw so all the force is taken by the wheel nuts. Yes, I've snapped a few of those T30/philips screws doing that!
