Howard Hughes was very forward thinking in buying up all that land. In 1952, when Hughes bought 25,000 acres of land out there, the population of the Las Vegas Metro area was 42,000 people. Summerlin was an empty desert, around 14 or 15 miles from the edge of the populated area. There was a little two lane country road, now the six lane West Charleston Blvd., which passed through the area going toward the little town of Blue Diamond. He named the area after his aunt, Alice Summerlin.

No. First of al, the event happens in late April. It's already hot then, but nothing like the summer heat. The key is to ride early in the morning before the killer heat in the late morning and afternoon.

@@CrabbyOldLady Ah I thought it happened recently. I moved here recently and yeah the weather outside of summer is great. Do you have any favorite places you'd recommend to ride?

@@rsboy4109 Unfortunately, my arthritis forced me to give up riding some years ago, so I'm not a good person to answer that. You could try some local bike shops and ask for their advice.

@@rsboy4109 This is a late post, sorry. Yes, this event is annually every April. I see alot of bikers at West Charleston going to Blue Diamond rd. (or vice versa) as mentioned by @CrabbyOldLady. It passes through the beautiful Red Rock Mountain scenic route. You'll also pass by Howard Hughes' mansion. But be very careful, as there have been a few accidents that I've heard of in the news (as anywhere you bike in Vegas there will be reckless drivers).

get that poison fried greasy chicken!!!! the sugar, salt and fat in the food is so unhealthy to be promoted by an athlete... perhaps he is a fake athlete like the fake food he serves..... this scores a -7/10 as far as healthy food.....
