Slaves shipped to America where from African's who were selling them. England first, then America led the way ending 'most' slavery across the planet. Certainly, among Western Countries first. This was a beautiful movie.

The mother is really stupid, 1st she insists on taking a crappy old door even though the husband tells her not to take creepy junk back home and then when latter everything goes south she blames husband that it is all his fault just because he didn't "believe the house is haunted" (which obviously it isn't)..

Weirdly the Steering wheel of vehicles are on right hand side in the video even though it is supposed to be USA( Where it is on left side of the car) not a commonwealth country. Or perhaps video is mirrored using editing software to escape from copyright infringement from the movies real creators or escape from some kind of video search engine... :/

Black skin discrimination will never end. Unless use white outfits for funerals, unpaid bank loans called, as white list instead of black listed. Sadly, no one uses black bog rools for wiping thier bottoms.

4:02 the reason why Celia tells Minnie that she doesn't want her husband to know about their arrangement is because Celia wants him to think that she did the cleaning herself lol, not because Minnie is black (a little context)

Gives me reason to cry. What a delightful, sweet woman is Celia & of course Minnie.😊

It's their fault , the fact that they insist to go through the river rather than to walk and follow Karl is their biggest mistake

Thank you for posting this. My mom was a Maid in the 50s, 60s and 70s in Alabama and SoCal. For that reason, I couldn’t bring myself to watch it. I inherited her unspoken pain.
