There's good and bad in a 8.200 deck height Ford build. Having a short light engine is good. Having an intake that is always out of tune at any reasonable rpm isn't. The balance factor of 50oz external on the 5.0 crank isn't ideal. Honing the block using a torque plate is far more important than using a fancy ring set. Your build will be interesting. I know some guys who ran a 355 inch engine built out of one of these in a pavement modified and it did great. Competitive power and 65lbs lighter.
@twinturbocoyoteftw6 ай бұрын
Find a Mexican block and save yourself some time. Those forged pistons are made by TRW and were used in 87-93 in mustangs. Even with the main support these blocks still crack if you spin them over 7k. I’ve been 5.20 on a stock block with a fogger. The Windsor Jr is the best head and did come with 2.02 . Also you should be good on ptv clearance with under 285 duration and 542 lift. Just a real ford guy here.

TRW. pistons . Forged were rare most are hypereutectic. I haved stripped several late 80s and 90s engines. Problem with iron Ford heads is they do not flow. And yes everything is more expensive. I am currently building one but with CHI Cleveland style heads,, and 3.4 stroke. A lot lighter than a Cleveland and oil and cool better. But never will be a Chev. Though with those heads will make excellent power. If I had the choice I would be using a Chev
