If the main character was actually cool, or something like Ada Wong it might actually be a 6.8/10. What developers lack to realize lately is that people play games and FEEL like characters. And if your character is some derpy 13 years old, nobody wants that. I, for instance, am very excited about The Witcher 4. Lore-wise, no idea. But Ciri simply is cool.

From a broad marketing perspective, I do not know why they shaved her head. In anime female characters will have the exact same face but have cute/cool and distinct hairstyles that makes them recognizable even without their default outfits. You could have an IG model in a white Bikini with brown hair and two side buns and know she's supposed to be princess Leia based Soley off her hair. Now with that out of the way at 3:13 of the trailer I like that she hesitates is a little worried after talking big and has to shake it off I do think if she isn't an invincible Mary Sue, we could have character development.

Personally, I hate what the gaming industry is becoming in general. I already hated Naughty Dog for what they did to The Last of Us. It's not just the "woke" bs that's ruining games for me either. The push for digital only distribution, required internet connections even for single player games, microtransactions, everything going open world, etc, are also contributing factors. The fact that some single player games now require an internet connection just to save your progress is complete bs. Those of us who live in rural areas with crappy internet options are just screwed.

Reason 3: Lack of demand. Who was asking for a girl boss in space? At least Naughty Dog is finally doing something other than remasters, but really? If you wanted to give us a fictional fantasy adventure with advanced technology and space travels, you couldn't use a familiar brand that people have been asking for, like a return of the Jak and Daxter franchise?

There's a culture war where everyone wants themselves to be represented in everything and nobody wants anybody else to be represented in anything. Reality is... It's stagnant. There's too much competition to not innovate, but too little disposable income for any major studios to risk innovation. Mix this with games greenlit or developed during lockdown or in warzones being released unpolished or poorly optimized to get to market and make money. Add on top of this, of studios try to save money or make additional money to sustain the studio size it alienates more people. Add micro transactions, subscription services, loot boxes, continuous DLC or season passes. You get a handful of games which cost hundreds to invest in that people don't even leave the games they're used to, because after €200 worth of add-ons to say Anno 1800 it becomes so feature complete that some indie alternative seems so threadbare in comparison that unless goes out of its way to reinvest the genre on a budget will get totally lost in the dirt 🤷 Hate it, don't hate it... No one is talking about it, but the EXTERIOR design form the ship completely DOES NOT MATCH it's interior design, I mean, it's an sports car on the outside, and, the cockpit seems ok to fit a pilot inside it. But internally it's the size of a HOUSE. A ship like this should be something bulkier, bigger than the millenium falcon, which has a lot less internal space and the cockpit is a very small portion of it.
