Yep or use the “half circle ruler” (I use it in clip studio) you draw a line A to B and then it give you the option to “bend it” it works pretty well for some lines I think Tho it doesn’t have touch sensitivity so you need to manually erase the tip and ends if you want.

4:20 - The fill (uranuri) is required in every part of the process (LO -> Genga -> Douga), the reason why you typically only see it in Lo and genga is because douga is extremely rare to find, and the most common examples of them are paper douga, where the fill is actually made on the opposite side of the paper. In digital douga exports they simply export a "line" version (no fill) and "uranuri" version (with fill) for every cel. Without uranuri its impossible to keep track of the fill and shiage mistakes would be made. 6:00 - The gradient colours are always to be filled in during shiage as a solid block the same way that shadows or highlights are filled (and if it intersect with another shadow or hi-light color that would get filled with its own unique colours too), blushes are also done like this where the gradient is filled in as a solid block of pink. The plugin interpolate between the gradient color and the normal color dynamically based on their surface area and color keying, creating the gradient effect, this means the gradient is tied to the animation and remains consistent, and the gradient colors are tied to the color model palette used during shiage instead of "in comp", allowing you to define the gradient colors for different palettes (such as a night pallete or high contrast pallete) 6:45 - This is called irotore (color trace) 11:15 - In the context of anime production, it's important to make a distinction between when the "rules" are relaxed due to priorities, and when its highly regimented, what you see online is typically the "front end" of anime production (layout - genga), and not really the "back end" (douga - shiage). Yes, the people who do the front end are for the most part have freedom to shade in whatever ways they want as long as they stick to a broad stroke convention, but the "back end" is HIGHLY regimented to the point where its simpler to think of it in terms of how a computer handle input/output, and even with different companies there are expectations that everyone do things in a certain way (it also depends on how old that company is but thats another can of worms). The reason why western productions have more unique pipelines than anime is due to the fact that the western animation (or at least, the part of it that is exposed to the internet, because we wont talk about the french) industry effectively collapsed a couple of decades ago and was resuscitated from the ground up, so much of it is very much in its infancy and had to basically reinvent the wheel.

Do you have something on how they design clothes for their characters? They're oftentimes very detailed and unique.
@SpywisMindPalaceAnimations
@SpywisMindPalaceAnimations 2 күн бұрын
Some are inspired by real life clothes, others are mashed together from various design choices, and still others are based on the time period and culture (ex, different school uniform designs in one world versus complicated magical armor in another world). This is not my area of expertise, so it would be best to look up videos on character design. There are plenty of great courses, I’m currently taking one on Coloso.

The world doesn't want innovators, they want workers. Most people follow what has already been done, and when they see someone doing something that hasn't been done before (or only a few people have done) they get insecure. Perhaps subconsciously they feel bad about their own life, and want to spread that internalized negativity to people who want to dream big, or perhaps they think people should "stick to reality." For example, nowadays it isn't seen as impossible to drive across the United States by yourself, in fact, most people can do it without struggle. But in 1903, it was seen as nearly impossible at the time, until a man named Horatio Nelson Jackson wanted to do it, just to see if he could, and he succeeded in those crappy cars back then. If nobody tried to do what seems to be impossible, we wouldn't be able to do something like drive across the country, or discover cures for diseases, or create amazing art. Without those people pioneering a new future, we would never grow as a society. And it is healthy to be a realist to an extent, but too much "realism" binds you to only what you know, leaving out the opportunity to learn new things.

Is it possible to put a moving background or animation inside a character, like Sailor moon's 90s transformations ? If not, that's lame, if yes, how ?
@SpywisMindPalaceAnimations
@SpywisMindPalaceAnimations 3 күн бұрын
…if it’s possible in Sailor Moon, then yes it’s very possible. (Slight sarcasm, but you get my point) Easiest way is to just do it in a video editor (set the character layer as a mask and overlay the bg image). Look up tutorials online, people have made videos about it.

CACANi is pretty good for some auto tweening and the Japanese anime industry uses it like Fire Force, Cells at Work, JoJo, etc... Most companies will draw the main keys on paper, CSP, or TVPaint and import that as PNGs into CACANi. Its not AI btw and you have control over the timing and generation.

@@GetbackupUltrabecause one thing it likes to do is ignore basic animation principles, plus its really messy if the animation wasn't drawn on ones (a different drawing every frame) as it kinda sucks at drawing an inbetweem for two or three identical frames. Hey, how long would it take you to do a 15 minute anime?
@SpywisMindPalaceAnimations
@SpywisMindPalaceAnimations Ай бұрын
Multiply how long it generally takes a person to complete 1 shot (meaning one section before the camera angle changes), by how many shots are in an anime (can be anything from 30 shots to over 200+ shots depending on how complicated you want it to be), and also factor in life stuff, burnout, motivation, interest, and general project planning, and you’ll have your answer. Examples, it took me 1 year by myself to complete a complicated 2 minute animation, versus taking 6 months when I hired two additional animators who did maybe two of the shots. TL;DR: a freaking long amount of time
@coachduggie
@coachduggie Ай бұрын
@@SpywisMindPalaceAnimations interesting, I wrote a really long star wars fan fiction. But I wanted to cut out 15 minutes of it and make a 2D animation. I think anime style is the route to go cause it will have action and I assume it's cheaper than 3D. I have voice actors who have already agreed and I just need animators. I'd like for it to take less than a year. And I was looking for an indie studio cause I assume they're cheap. Any advice, what's the cheapest but still best art style? What do you think the low-end animation cost should be? If you want to give me a range that works too. Also if you know any crews who are worth looking into I'd appreciate it
@SpywisMindPalaceAnimations
@SpywisMindPalaceAnimations Ай бұрын
@coachduggie these are not questions I’m able to answer, as art is subjective and you underestimate just how *expensive* animation in general is (for instance, I once went to a small indie animation studio asking about character sheets, and was quoted for several hundred dollars just for the character sheets alone. This number exponentially grows into the thousands even for a single minute of animation)

Why do some of the line art disappear on playback
@SpywisMindPalaceAnimations
@SpywisMindPalaceAnimations Ай бұрын
I’ve answered this in a TikTok, but during the layout/1st key step, you don’t have to draw every single frame, especially for parts that do not move. You’ll see this a lot especially with looping motion, where part of the animation stays still while another part moves. That way, the next animator knows which parts to draw that are or are not moving for those frames.
