Niall was a very effective forward when he played well Clare where winning he had some great battles with Diarmuid the rock O'Sullivan of cork back in the day Niall and Clare where very unlucky in the 2005 All-Ireland semi-final i really think that was one match Clare threw away . Niall Gilligan would have won a second All-Medal that year if the banner had reached the final am certain Clare would have defeated Galway that day. Anyway as a Tipp Man myself i really hope Clare will emerge as a force again in Hurling. thanks for the memories Niall John Tipperary Town

I think Brian Lohan was the reason Clare won the All-Ireland in 1997 it was his distraction of Tipperary 's John Leahy's shot at goal in the final minute .A year later in 1998 i think Brian and Clare got the raw deal that was Clare's All-Ireland that year am fully convicted Clare would have beaten KK if they reached the 1998 All-Ireland final that is my opinion anyway it's all water under the bridge at this stage.

If John Power of Kilkenny marked PJ O'Connell it would have been some tussle they where absolute warriors on the field.

The best man to take a 65 and score it he had some great battles with John Leahy of Tipperary and DJ Carey of Kilkenny many years ago now . He was a very honest tough hurler no doubt about that hopefully Clare will be a serious force in Hurling again.
