OK here's a final resumé for your "expensive" day out in London. You don't see anything from the tube (most people won't even need to be told that) so you can spend all day going round on the buses and all it costs is a mere £5.50p.! If you want to get a weekly bus ticket, it's even cheaper still.!!!!! So if you're making videos, do try to offer some accurate advice to the viewers.
@JohnResalb22 күн бұрын
It's £34 to tour the Tower of London.
@JohnResalb22 күн бұрын
You can get a day ticket for London which is much cheaper than what you were indicating in your dialogue. AND furthermore, if you're under 26, your trip from Oxford (or anywhere) is a third cheaper. But try not to give wrong information to watching prospective tourists .

I grew up in S. Oxon but don't know Oxford at all! I wish I did. I've loved all the TV programmes set there, Morse, Lewis and Midsomer Murders which was shot in S. Oxon so I was familiar with that. Glad you enjoyed your time there.

I think that you can purchase a one day travel card that might work out cheaper than individual journeys;
@paulqueripel349317 күн бұрын
There's a maximum limit on what you can pay on the tube, London overground, buses and DLR. Daily cap for zones 1-6 journeys is £15.60 this year, he won't be charged any more (just use the same debit or credit card each time, and remember to tap out of stations as well). Same price as a one day travel card as far as I can tell.

Hyde Park is the forth largest park in London, fifth largest if you include Colne Park which is only partly in London and mostly outside. The London Bridge that was falling down is NOT the one that was shipped to Arizona. The song is at least 300 tears old and the Bridge in Arizona was built in London and finished in 1831 and so the song related to one of the previous bridges on the site. The first bridge was built in AD 50.

Studying in England, I hope you remembered to spell in English and not American English 🤣
@drzander337824 күн бұрын
@nicksmith3dvv, I’m from the UK but took one of my degrees in the US. I have to say that my US professors were fine with English spelling and usage as long as I could show that it was correct in the UK. The reciprocal wasn’t the case. On the rare occasions that I used US spelling or semantics in the UK, I was corrected. When I was studying at Oxford, I once said ‘momentarily’ in the US sense only to be admonished by my thesis supervisor! 😁
@joesoy918521 күн бұрын
I think you mean "British English", not just "English".
@drzander337820 күн бұрын
@@joesoy9185 No. When you want to say that you drove somewhere, do you specify that you drove forwards, not backwards? No, you don't because driving forwards is the default. Guess what: English is the language of the English in England. It's the default. It doesn't require specification. Variants do.
@charleschappell938120 күн бұрын
"Colour" not "Color," right? 😆
@joesoy918520 күн бұрын
@@drzander3378 You are clearly unaware of the varieties of English. USA Americans also claim to speak "English", as do Australians and many parts of the Commonwealth. English as used in England in England is not a default at all.

Magdalen is pronounced Maudlin. 🙂 Sorry but a lot of your punting info is wrong. Don’t mean to moan but our very very long history deserves attention to detail. Still, you’re just starting your life outside Virginia US so you have time. Enjoy the world, oh and go somewhere where the culture is completely different to that in the Western World. Stay for a good while and see how it changes your perspective more than any screen or book can.

You can go to Westminster Abbey for free on weekdays if you attend Choral Evensong most afternoons. It’s well worth hearing the superb choir there. Even at holiday times there are very often visiting choirs. The same goes for St. Paul’s Cathedral. To just sit there for 45 minutes or so and take in all the architecture and atmosphere without the crowds is quite magical.
