Thank you. Interesting about the "language has been granted too much power" because I was wondering how new materialists cope with the insights of the literary turn. I'll have to read that section.

"Matter is not passive but has agency." I don't understand what's so "new" or "materialistic" about "new materialism." Why not just call it Pantheism or Animism? Philosophers and theologians have debated these questions for ages, with far more sophistication and metaphysical nuance. Why should settle with this hodge podge of feminism, new-agism and environmental ideology?
@SuperBygfootАй бұрын
I see, your partial view derives from an old and crusty theologian department. Name me some Philosophers and theologians who debated these questions for ages. There concepts and assumptions are also imbedded in a hodge podge of other ideologies.
@derpfaddesweisen17 күн бұрын
You are watching an introduction. Those debates are much more complex. There are issues like incomplete ontology that aren't discussed in those ancient debates.

A poststructuralist conversation: -Don't believe everything you see -Have you seen the Berlin Wall? -No -How do you know it exists? -Where is the Berlin Wall? -In Berlin -Where is Berlin located? -In Germany -That's what they want you to believe
@TheFate23Ай бұрын
I'm quite sure that this comment was not serious, nonetheless i want to point out that for poststructuralists there is not a place of power, there is no "they". There are only discourses.

Nice review but the commentary needs to assume a more cross-cultural approach as it reaches a peak of ridiculousness when 'white' ideologues are criticized for creating and fostering gender inequalities and hegemonies.

its important to go beyond this dichotomie of modern (rational, realist-science) and the social constructivism branch of postmodernity and combine them again. But not in an dialectical fashion.
@alicepractice94738 ай бұрын
It is already connected as common poststructurally grounded politics demonstrates (namely by substituting the unavailable substratum with empirical data). That, however, is strictly within the bounds of dialectics.

Thank you for the video. (A constructive criticism, if you don't mind: I find the background "music" not only totally unnecessary but also annoying. Five minutes into your lecture, I stopped the video as I lost the battle with whatever those sounds/noises are.)

Thank you very much for your work! I would say it could help to the explanation if you put one or two particular cases for each concept that you present, in order to link the abstract ideas with the general experience of the audience, as a general rule of thumb to make the contents easier to understand. Justus Hartnack for instance does this (almost) the whole time in his History of philosophy.

Deleuzo-Guattarian poststructuralism goes against the basic assumption is that our world is constructed and ordered in discourse. In their view term "structure" illegitimately conflates several scales and deprives organisations (assemblages) of causal agency. In their _Anti-Oedipus_ structure becomes machine...
