While I appreciate the effort in the video, I much prefer your older videos like "Introducing Shadow Tower". Will there be a more detailed video as a follow-up? I want to see inside, the ASIC Diagram and more details. The same B-roll footage gets tiring.

Is it necessarily easier to create higher bandwidth fabric interfaces since they are (usually?) parallel bus connections than it is to create serialized interfaces or are you stuck effectively cutting the chips bandwidth in half for port facing and half for fabric facing in the case of chips that can operate in "both" modes like the Cisco Q100/Q200?

Come on guys... Who let the marketing noobs take over this channel. 648,000 ports? Xrdocs used to be accurate facts. Now it's slideware spam. Do better.

I really like the idea of individual devices in the chassis voting/providing their requirements back into the cooling algorithm. Nice innovation!

Talking about the test, especially in PoC. Another unnecessary requirement that stick in to many people's mind is the target convergence time of 50 ms. For example, mobile backhaul requirement might allow a bit higher than 100ms and still be in a good QoE (per 3GPP requirement). In the opposite, some application require extremely stringent convergence than 50 ms might need 1+1 streams so the receiving end can select another stream at anytime. I have my own study on this but cannot spread to a wider community. Would appreciate to see some content publicly available like this RFC2544 explanation.

Oh my god these port densities and values are great, why cant you just let me use fabric extenders without a switch? I would like to collapse my topography. Why is sfp28 breakout not supported on 5502, really strange because sfp+ breakout is supported, this was quite the bummer when noticed. What happens to qsfp connections if not all four channels are functional at the layer 1? Will it totally refuse to work or will it operate with degraded performance? I have had troubles getting a QSA (sfp+) to work on my 5502, the spec sheets and compatibility matrixes say it should work but I still cant get the things to work, I really hate the ideas of installing an extra switch just to get my links over 40km and under 80km running. Also why the heck is this stuff rated in KM and not db? The db/km loss on different fiber can vary quite significantly. 34:20 Let's see if I'm just screaming in the wind here.

Why cant you just let me use fabric extenders without a switch? This is because the fabric extender (FEX) does not have the hardware needed to handle routing or switching. The FEX is is a "dumb box" in that it has to send all of the packets to the parent switch to be handled. Even when traffic goes from one port on the FEX to another port on the same FEX it has to be sent to the parent switch to be processed and then is sent back to the FEX.

@@fashion_nugget273 Why can't the router do that? Why do I need a switch if I have extra capacity in my router?
