Nice vid - thanks for taking the time to post this. Totally agree that the 3.5mm and USB plugs are a great idea ... just buy LOTS because they're easily lost ... but great peace of mind. Does the magnetic lens kit interfere with the NFC sensor?

I'll be honest I did not try if it does interfere but this was just a solution for when taking photos, I would just remove the case afterwards and put my normal Sony one on 👍

The battery grip doesn't fast charge so to be honest it's best to keep it on an forget about it or use a powerful power bank . The capacity is not that big and you'd be hard pressed to get half a charge with it on. I haven't tried it scientifically but I'd say about 30/40% ?

Would you recommend the S24 Ultra or the Xiaomi 14 Ultra? My biggest concern is the thermals, i saw that the leather versions heats too much when doing intensive tasks like 4K video recording and gaming, so should i get the Blue Ceramic version of 14U?
@UpsideLens
@UpsideLens Күн бұрын
From a photography point of view I couldn't recommend the S24U, small sensors, over the top processing and I'm just not a fan of their colour science. In terms of the Xiaomi 14 ultra heating up, the only time I can honestly it was hot to the touch was when I was charging it at the full 90W as I was in a rush and needed the super fast charge. Other than that, when recording video with it it gets warm at most and I don't have e that ceramic one. Hope that helps

@@UpsideLens Thanks a lot, i was a bit undecided because people recommended the S24U for cameras and overall, over the 14U, but now i'm sure i'll get the 14U
@UpsideLens
@UpsideLens Күн бұрын
@HomiRuimm really ? Any photographer out there would never choose the S24U over the Xiaomi ! That would be foolish ! I mean the Xiaomi's sensors are way larger than the Samsung's ancient ones ! The optics are much better on the Xiaomi, it's 75mm telephoto doesn't use a periscope which allows for some ridiculously good bokeh ! The macro abilities are bonkers too ! The Xiaomi is also much better supported when it comes to third party apps like mcpro24fps and motion cam which allows you to record real RAW video which crushes even iPhones pro Res ! The phone to beat in 2024 for photography is the Xiaomi, and any self respecting photographer would never say the Samsung is better in anyway, not unless they were paid to say so !

Great review and I would have ordered one of these straight away if I hadn't seen it compared to the Vivo 100 with a bigger sensor and most of the time - better results. Love your presentations on this flagship - thank you!

Reviews tell half the story... You see where the X14U shines is the fact it has a dedicated non-periscope zoom lens and unlike the X100U it doesn't require a sensor crop. The resulting photos and especially bokeh are wayyyy ahead of what the X100U can achieve, and that's physics at the end of the day. Bokeh on any periscope lens will look squarish and un-natural. That's the nature of the beast. Also adds to the fa t Xiaomi's compatibility is much better with third party softwares like motion cam and mcpro24fps which allows the Xiaomi to pump out some, if not then best, video footage of ANY mobile phone out there.

@K22MDL i haven't looked at anything that doesn't support Google (aka Huawei Pura) but so far for me and for what I prioritise in a camera phone the Xiaomi is the phone to beat in 2024 ! Awesome 1inch type sensor, amazing 75mm telephoto, outstanding macro, video capabilities just class leading... It just keeps on going. On top of that the photography kit, even though I'm not fond of the grip itself comes with an amazing case that allows to use any 67mm filters.

Hi I think it's all down to preferences and use case, if you're starting in photography or you're not that into photography then a phone like a pixel, a Samsung or iPhone would be more than enough. If you are a photographer and know the principles already and know your way around shooting in RAW full manual then the Xiaomi 14 ultra currently is unbeatable as a whole. The 15 ultra is sadly said to use one of those all in one zooms which I'm not a fan of due to loss of native depth of field but time will tell if the rumours are true about the 15. For now the 14 ultra can be had at a cracking price. Hope that helps 👍

I've watched your Xiaomi 14 Ultra review as a photographer and I am extremely happy with the fact you truly do try a lot of the different possibilities with the hardware. A lot of reviewers lazily take a few shots and call it a day, it's genuinely hard to find someone who cares a lot about pushing hardware to its limits. I recently have imported an Iqoo 12 from China, and while I was making an informed decision and knew the kind of camera performances I'd be getting, I was still blown away by how strong the camera was. In fact, I just never saw anyone try hard enough with it! Reviewers are mostly not photographers, and for reviews of camera centric products, it really makes reviews meaningless... Thanks a lot for the inspirating videos and keep up the amazing work. Your editing is relaxing and well paced, the shots looks good and professional, keep it up!

I gave up Xperia 1 V a few weeks ago and went to iPhone 15 Pro Max. Tele lens is so much better, and at night also much more reliable. Usage is way more relaxed. I was always stressing taking picture with Sony, I had to do 5-10 copies of the same, where 1 was coming out sharp. Especially on the telephoto.

The Xperia phones are all about manual mode, to get good shots you need to shoot raw in manual mode and edit your photos afterwards. That's how you can get camera like shots. iPhone photos are processed straight out of the box and even in raw mode which from a photographer point of view is everything you do not want. It's fine for photos you want to show friends and family, the photo of the lasagne you cooked up and random daily stuff but for actual photography iPhones are just not there yet. They produce images that scream "I was shot on a phone" and it's due to iPhones having small sensors and iOS processing the photos over the top. Again it's fine for most but as a photographer that just is not a good starting point.
