Mixed use? Add condos for sale only. No renters. Concierge services, laundry food delivery etc build towers around mall. If it's handy, people will use it

I know of no mall that declines like that and makes a comeback. Eventually the theater will just close or move to a new location. Goodbye to the mall.

I would say covid, inflation plus as mentioned greedy people where all factors Not to mention shopping online and malls being seen an "old" are all factors It's a shame to see this place in its current condition but here's hoping it can recover or lead too something better

I read somewhere back that they dieing mall into affordable apartments on the upper floor and used the lower floor for shops and eateries. With the housing crisis in SoCal seems to be a viable solution. Just saying

I grew up in that city and worked at that mall, the 70's and 80's it was hopping. I worked the nights they filmed back to the future; it was really interesting. Sad to see it so baren. Amazon and retail giants like Target and Walmart killed shopping malls. It was a fun mall to hang out in and kids these days will just never know!

Hello thank you for your video i have a question about how long is the walking approximately? If you talked about it during video sorry i watched volume down cause its late

Hello! I would say the total walking is maybe a mile from and back to the gate. It uses a small portion of the fairgrounds where the carnival rides typically are, and also the "The Hill" and the lagoon areas. There are some hills and inclines if you want to see the entire display. There are plenty of benches to sit and take a break. Hope that helps. I tried and google map the walking path, but it wasn't exact...

What a shame! The San Gabriel Valley was home to three Malls back in the day. You had the Eastland in Covina, West Covina Plaza and the Puente Hills Mall. All three were flourishing, and the parking lots were always packed. I will be honest, the Asian community ruined the San Gabriel Valley by not assimilating into the communities. The Caucasian and Hispanic communities were the dominant forces that filled all three malls. If you drove on Valley boulevard from Los Angeles to Pomona, you can see the reason why the old establishments are no longer with us or on their way out.

Honestly, the mall has became half-dead in 1996, when Broadway and JC Penney departed. That caused about half of the mall tenants to close and depart. Although the new AMC theater in 1997 brought back some foot traffic (and some tenants back), it still wasn't the same as the pre-1996 levels. Ever since, this mall has died a slow death to the ruins it has become in 2025. This place was always packed with people in the 1980's and the first-half of the 1990's during weekends and holidays (including Halloween).

I been living in Hacienda Heights since 2003. The Asian community doesn’t support local businesses. Albertsons up the street closed Asian market opened. Del Taco next to Albertsons closed an Asian bank replaced it. Ralph’s market on Colima and the one on Gale closed and replaced by Asian markets.

There are two things that are the cause of this: One was the COVID-19 pandemic The second is because of online shopping, thanks to Amazon and Ebay.

Just went here yesterday with my son and husband was an experience for sure to see this sort of deadmall thing in person. While exploring we found a homeless man camping out on one of the benches inside the mall. A part of me wants to believe that they can do something with it. Another part of me hopes that they can develop some housing out of this,

I remember my grandparents talking to this mall when I was 4 to get Santa Claus pic taken way back in 1975. It started to go downhill when the anchor stores started leaving back in the early 2000s. By the way the famous scene from back to the future was not JC Penny it was Robinsons.

Cut the price for tenant occupancy in half. That’ll solve landlords problems. They shouldn’t have got so greedy with raising the rents and leases.
