Well, this problem and the lack of accountability from Stelantis may lead me to trading for a Ford or Chevy. The truck has not had usable ABS/traction control/cruise since about 45k miles. At least with Ford the founding family is still involved and has pride/interest in their vehicles.

I have a 2018 Ram Laramie 3500 dually that had the same problem. I filed a complaint with the NHTSA last month. I couldn’t wait for a recall as we tow our fifth wheel on a regular basis. So I paid a dealer last week to fix the problem. Hopefully something will be announced soon and we can get our money back.

Recently had this issue on my 2018 CTD 3500 SRW. I got lucky because the dealership found the parts (HCU and ABS module) and I was able to use my extended warranty for repair costs. I was also told that this problem was under "engineering review " and that some resolution could be expected around next month. Like others, I feel this should have been a recall from day one of this problem. Another noted time bomb is a nut and bolt on top of the intake manifold (heater element) and because of a ceramic mounting fixture failure the nut can fall off and lodge in the #6 cylinder! I would like to ask a dealer service technician if a strategically placed magnet would be able to stop the nut travel, allowing removal before disaster?

My 2018 Ram's ABS & Traction Control Lights returned flashing yesterday even after I paid almost $1,700 in March 2022 to replace the hydraulic control unit (HCU) at the local dealership. The worst part is that the dealership could not diagnose the flashing record since "the flashing was not happening (or replicate) at the time in the dealership shop." I will file the complaint with NHTSA today. Thanks for your information.

Hcu. Hydraulic control unit is going bad. You can diy but ram needs to calibrate it. 400 for parts but about 800 at the dealer for everything. Ram knows about it, is a huge problem but they're dodging it so they don't have to spend the money.

How many HDUs have you put in it? I have a 2018 Laramie, 6,7 Diesel that had a fail at @5000, the second fail at @21,000 and now the third at @33,000. Taking the truck in tomorrow to the Chysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram dealer here in Temple, TX. Created a case through Ram on Friday. A tech(?) is supposed to be checking to see what has failed for the third time...can not be 4 bad HDUs could it? Has to be something else?? GEEZ ! Love the truck but this HDU failing on the average every 8K is ridiculous!

Chrysler to my understanding didn’t have these problems on the Rams until 2017. They’ve already recalled the 2019-2022 for the same problem. Stellantis inherited this problem from Fiat. The Italians and French aren’t taking care of the customers. I am very disappointed.

My hydroboost lines where bad, I feel this over worked the pump motor due to lack of proper pressure, I changed out the lines for El cheapo ebay lines 45 35 or so apiece now. I'm on to the module it does it less but fluid doesn't like being worked so going to bleed the module then if all else fails replace it. Also it's by the front tire and no sealant grease like dielectric was used. So fine mist can get to the module. The factory hydra boost hoses have an inner liner that breaks loose and then it impedes flow that impedance can cause loss of pressure and a hissing noise in the driver's seat that seems like it's coming from underneath the dash

@@brosario7123 turned out my hydra boost was also leaking the seal under the dash right above the brake pedal had hydraulic fluid all over it. If I bleed the system down and then the module will shut off the ABS thing but as soon as the hydra boost got air back into it. It would throw the ABS light again... I really think the lines are the main problem here in that day have the inner liner break and then it causes pressure fluctuation that ruin the seals. Best of luck with your truck, but I would definitely check your hydroboost and make sure that you're not having any problems there and then if you wiggle the lines, sometimes you can trigger the fault. The hydroBoost line is the two that run up towards the firewall behind the brake master cylinder
