Just watched this video after a day chasing pike managed to land 2 and had 3 manage to shake the hook.

Seabait fishing so boring, smelly and time consuming......lure and flyfishing for me anyday

In my opinion it's waste of time fishing there until sunset. A mate of mine was catching flatties there but using tiny hooks some time ago. Also you seemed to have been quite far down to the other side where there's a small sand bank just before the river outlet so maybe casting short would have helped.. just thinking out loud mate lol
