I spent 15 years down the pits at Gedling, annesley and bentinck. I was a coal face worker and deputy. It was the best time of my life

Short term economic thinking rather than understanding what is the in the interests of the country and it's people in the longer term. Now we have energy prices substantially higher than our European peer countries, with manufacturers preferring to invest in those countries. The development of our natural resources through ingenuity and hard work, particularly a reliable and cost-effective energy base, was the foundation of an industrial revolution that projected the UK into a world leader. Saddened to see we've lost so much so soon.
