The video must've started after the past where you plugged it in. Not sure why. When I watched it started after the dash cover was back on.

I'm confused. This video shows zero of the actual wiring. I can mount stuff to the dash but how did you connect the wire harness you connected to it?

It was a quick video. I could have torn into the dash more. But this video shows that isn’t necessary. You remove the panel under the steering wheel. I show the location of the factory plug for the brake controller. I show what harness adapter I used for the brake controller I’m using. I don’t show myself plugging the two connectors together but that shouldn’t be necessary.

I just bought a 2001 Excursion yesterday. I have that same controller in my 2003 Toyota Sequoia. Thanks for doing this video makes it a little easier installing another one

Thanks for the video. Good idea using rivnuts with stainless hardware. Curious to know how your Move bumper fit with your factory hitch and 7-way plug (assuming you have that). I’m doing mine right now (2000 7.3L Exc.) and it looks like I’ll have to cut further relief into the bottom of the bumper, or I could modify the slits for mounting to the frame to bring the bumper up 1/2”.

Sorry for the late reply. I completely relocated the 7 way plug. Still using the factory one but I’m no longer using the original mounting bracket. I cut into the move bumper and installed the plug on the left hand side next to where the license plate mounts. I can send pictures if you want.

I used the Sony xav-ax1000. According to the specs online it’s a 6.2” double din.

Lmao, I have an excursion never seen your video never got a recommendation for these products and u got this exact same setup the controller and the adapter, how do u like it thus far? And what type of trailer do u tow? Like how many axles and how much does it weigh

On the excursion Facebook pages this seems to be the go to setup. Lots of people recommended it. I mainly tow my single axle 21ft travel trailer. But I also tow a double axle tilt trailer from time to time. Haven’t had any issues with it.

I just had the same install. Very easy, however I am reading no trailer connected even when I am connected. I tried on two separate trailers. Any ideas?

Do both trailers have trailer brakes? It should recognize a trailer with no issues when it’s hooked up.

@@oscarsalazar7658 I have several trailers. They all have breaks and work with my other trucks. I’m wondering if the plug may have been replaced at some point and not wired correctly. All the lights work as they should.

Your hands must be the size of a cats paw. I've removed one half of my dash and still can not get to this plug. I'm on the verge of using the blue tip wrench. Any one have a better solution?

It was a pain in the butt. Once I had the plug loose I reached from underneath and plugged it in. It wasn’t fun but it was possible.

Thanks for the Video. Did you have to install a fuse or relay? My 01 p'up had a fuse and relay that had to be installed to get controller to work. My 05 excursion came with a pig tail that was in the glove box with factory instructions on install after 17 years of mall crawling no telling what the other half did with that bag with the plug in it. Lol Thanks again.

No fuse or relay needed for the install. Just needed the harness and the brake controller. Everything was plug n play.

About to start fixing mine, I'm really nervous about the rust. Motor wise, the 3sgte has a new harness and a air to water intercooler. However I think I'm getting low compression on one of the cylinders. Might just go 5s. I would love to know what other problems you have ran into
