Clay Earles built one of NASCAR's first paved tracks at Martinsville in 1947. He always strived to improve the fan experience, & over the years he created one of the most beautiful facilities on the circuit. He was very proud of his azaleas planted on turn one & the manicured grass surrounding & inside the track. The real reason Clay installed curbing on the turns, was because he got tired of the cars cutting the corners & ruining his beautiful grass! 😂

Thanks for the re-upload - and thanks especially for your work on the playlists: I know from some other work how much of a pain it can be to do and it truly is much appreciated

**POINTS STANDINGS and WINS before the 1987 RIVERSIDE 400k (13 of 29):** #3 Dale Earnhardt Sr (1983pts with 6 wins, GM) #9 Bill Elliott (-194 with 1 win, Ford) #75 Neil Bonnet (-280, GM) #21 Kyle Petty (-348 with 1 win, Ford) #11 Terry Labonte (-358, GM) #17 Darrell Waltrip (-401, GM) #15 Ricky Rudd (-454, Ford) #90 Ken Schrader (-465, Ford) Rusty Wallace (GM #27 in 10th) wasn’t having too much success despite being consistent. Geoff Bodine (GM #5 in 15th) kept mixing great results with troublesome races and so did the best rookie of 1986, Alan Kulwicki (Ford #7 in 18th). Rookie Davey Allison (Ford #28 in 20th) surprised everyone when he won the Alabama 500 and the Mason-Dixon 500 despite running a part-time schedule because of Ranier Racing’s budgetary problems. Meanwhile, the 2nd-best driver in 1986, Tim Richmond, had to skip most of the season for “pneumonia” (it was AIDS) but won the Pennsylvania 500 when he returned. Drivers listed are the season's current top8, last season's top8 plus the rookie of the year before and whatever race winner that doesn't fit any of those 2 descriptions. Yes, I’m using the unsponsored names of the races. In Riverside’s case, the earlier race is the Riverside 400k while the later one is the Western 500k.

Ahhhh the good old days of ESPN speed world still get that awesome feeling when I hear that intro music. I am so glad and thankful I was able to grow up during the 80s and 90s the golden era of NASCAR so glad we can enjoy watching these races again and newer fans can see how much better it use to be. Never will be like this again. Thanks for posting.
