A COD WAW video in 2023 is a testament to how impactful it was to us back in the day. Stellar campaign, banger music, appropriately dark atmosphere, and Nazi zombies. Nice to see it being appreciated even today.

There's no other soundtrack in gaming that is quite this nast and mean spirited. This was the CoD that took War Is Hell so literally it made you one of the denons.
@Skauldrich18 күн бұрын
You're right about that one. You'll get people saying that the Doom soundtracks are similar in that regard; but I'd argue that the WaW soundtrack hits that little bit different... 🤔

No doubt one of the best games has such an epic soundtrack. Btw I have no idea about making good thumbnails but I noticed that for all these soundtracks you just blur out the image of the first theme and then add the text on top as the thumbnail but maybe you could try putting an image of an iconic scene from each game? like maybe for MW2 do the end of "Loose Ends" where Shepherd oofs ghost and roach or maybe Ramirez and the rangers in DC or something. as I said I have no idea whether that would be better but just a suggestion. also tysm for making these mixes, always my favorite parts of each soundtrack
@Skauldrich23 күн бұрын
I couldn't agree more - a quality soundtrack for a quality game. :) Thanks for the suggestion about the thumbnails. Maybe I'll try and update them to look a little better in the future. I'll admit, it's not the part of the uploading process that I pay most attention to - you know, seeing as it's a video that is focused on the audio side rather than the visual. Still, might be worth investing more into the thumbnails, as you say... My absolute pleasure, my friend. Glad to find others on the Internet who appreciate these parts of the soundtrack as much as I do. :D

Sean Murray is a genius. Not only are these soundtracks awesome and memorable, they also fit the setting perfectly. You can feel everything each mission has to offer. It's also the same with World at War.
@Skauldrich28 күн бұрын
Absolutely. And just look at how well we can put ourselves back into those missions just by hearing those cues. Each one is unique to its chapter's environment and setting. When you hear Rooftops, you can see the chase sequence on the roofs of Kowloon; when you hear the cue from Rebirth, you're immediately placed back in that hazmat suit gunning down baddies with your thermal scope... Brilliant, isn't it?

The Defector is genuinely my favorite ost from any game I've ever played. It's something that's just been stuck in my head for a decade. It's so brutal yet it has rhythm. Sounds badass but not in a glorifying way. If I had to give war itself a theme song, that would be it.
@SkauldrichАй бұрын
From all the metal/rock cues of Black Ops 1, the Defector is the one that sounds most like it's cut from the same cloth of the World at War soundtrack. As you say, the music is brutal; it's badass, but it doesn't glorify the warfare that it accompanies...
@uberschnilthegreat22Ай бұрын
Eviction, Their Land, Their Blood, and Downfall just hit the right spots for me with how the metal sounds like gunfire, because I'm a huge fan of that kinda stuff thanks to Metallica's One and the machine gun drums / riff in it. I also get a lot of original Half-Life vibes to them strangely enough (think Diabolical Adrenaline Guitar).
@SkauldrichАй бұрын
Interesting that you mention Metallica's One, as well as Diabolical Adrenaline Guitar - I happen to be a fan of both too. Maybe there's a reason behind that... 🤔
@uberschnilthegreat22Ай бұрын
@@Skauldrichit could be that both games make liberal useage of a more industrial style of Metal and share common riffs. Vendetta especially with the double-stroke of the guitar is on point with the alpha version of diabolical adrenaline guitar. The two actually hit very simialr vibes between Vendetta's overall mood and DAG's more calm sections.
