Aoyagi would have a hard time waiting for a MLB team to sign him, because I believe a starting pitcher with sidearm or submarine pitch is something exclusive to Japan. Most importantly, Aoyagi’s unique pitching style is the mix of sidearm and submarine.
@tatsuyaarai60295 күн бұрын
Makita years ago was not able to live up with the submarine hype. Makita's versatility helped him to earn a bullpen spot in the Padres roster. I am not sure how much Aoyagi is compatible to a bullpen spot or he is even willing to do so
@Nyyanks284 күн бұрын
@@tatsuyaarai6029 if he is willing to go be a bullpen piece he should be ok. Tyler Rogers has made a great career as a side armer coming out of the bullpen.

I have been curious about his first attempt. Did he decline an offer because it wasn't good enough or did things just not work out because of the COVID shutdown?

56:27 Definitely Hiroto Takahashi will be a second generation Yoshinobu Yamamoto if he stay healthy. He struggled a little bit with his command at the beginning of the year to copy Yamamoto's form, but he was dominant once he mastered. I highly believe he will be the next pitcher to have a hype once Sasaki goes to major. An interesting fact is that he chose to go to university, but he wasn't approved, so he chose to subscribe to go pro.

If he develops well, he could be the next 3000 hitter or maybe the 1st 500HR hitter from Asia. I think Shohei could have 3000 hits and 500 Homers if he went with his original plan to bypass the NPB and go straight to the Majors. Maybe he never throws a single pitch, like the higher ups at Hokkaido NHF warned him about, but he could definitely play RF and have a successful career nonetheless and he probably doesn’t have to miss a lot of games due to TJ surgery.

This one deserves a more deep dive. Didn't know that Hiroshima Carp went to a historic collapse out of the wildcard then the series... I bet this one going to be an hour of deep dive especially coming off from having Japanese fans seeing Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto won the World Series before the final game of Japan Series.

In japan they name their teams after corporations instead of their region?
@KaptenMalaChАй бұрын
Yep, since the teams is basically funded by the corporations. To put into perspective, MLB team is a franchise while NPB team is funded by a franchise.
@HoshizakiYoshimasaАй бұрын
In an just world, Ohtani Sasaki Yamamoto ect stay in Japan and it's American baseball stars coming to Japan to play Baseball. Because Japan is the true baseball country now (more than the US) and has the best baseball market with the best fans (Again Americans pefer Padded Rugby more than Baseball now). But, The world isn't fair. Money rules everything. And the Americans have the money.
@nachtmusik4703Ай бұрын
Marines GM is totally sucked. Professional baseball is nothing but business. They have made catastrophic damage to NPB imo. In addition, current posting system had already been made valid when Sasaki was picked. So he understood it and didn’t take a risk like Hyun-seok Jung who joined LAD farming system right after high school. That’s why some NPB fans don’t celebrate Sasaki’s departure.
@julianmayaherrera224Ай бұрын
Munetaka Murakami ???????????? Roki Sasaki???????
@soapsatelliteАй бұрын
Imma be real with you, I almost would rather see him on the Red Sox than on the Dodgers at this point. I don't want the Dodgers to become a club version of the Japanese national team. I'm still excited that Sasaki is finally coming to MLB, even with all the weird circumstances, but I don't want the Dodgers to just snap up the best players in Japan before anyone else even has a chance to negotiate
@jdsthirdАй бұрын
All MLB teams have the opportunity to pitch their team and why it makes sense for him to join them. It’s not the Dodgers fault they invest in their teams and try to win for their fans. We should want all owners to follow the same model. I don’t blame the Dodgers or Roki or any other player for wanting to excel in their sport and compete for championships every year. That means a ton to competitive minded athletes.
@Rex-wi7bzАй бұрын
I don't think Sasaki is giving up that much money by going to MLB early. After he accrues 3 years of MLB service at minimum wage, he'll be eligible for arbitration and many teams will sign players to long term contracts year 4+ buying out their arbitration years. So if he waited to leave NPB after 25 years old, he would get his big contract just one year earlier and everything is health contingent anyways.

Honestly, as a dodger fan who will likely land sasaki, this is kinda unfortunate for japanese fans. I feel like posting this early is unfair.
@DeerjasonАй бұрын
If Ohtani didn’t post early, he may have never gotten the chance to pitch and bat in the MLB. I’m sure a lot of Japanese fans are excited to have a Japanese team in the MLB; perhaps the MLB should play some games in Japan so they still get to see in person.
