@@music-with-ericohh I was hoping the Crave worked like how a moog 960 sequencer works. Where you can get each step, and use the knobs to dial in the frequency (pitch) of each step.
@music-with-eric2 ай бұрын
@@djpopcorns ah - not on its own (though you can choose the pitch of each step using the keyboard). If you like the knob-per-step behavior, you could pair the crave with a Korg SQ-1.

I really hope you're ok and life just got in the way and you just got busy and stopped making videos. Please come back some day and teach us anything. Thank you for all the kind comments on my videos, and I'm glad you found them helpful! Once I finished with the Crave I just didn't have much left to say, and don't want to just make more videos on a new synth rehashing the same material. Who knows though, maybe someday I'll find something that inspires me to return to video-making.

@@music-with-eric Hey! First, I'm so happy to see you're good. I totally understand the inspiration thing. One thing I was thinking about, You really cleared up so basic synth functions and flow for me, which I would have never found if I wasn't searching specifically for "Crave Tutorials". Maybe you could get things going with just a series of synth basics. There's nothing out there that is any good. There's a million out there but they're all the same "This is the osc. it goes like this" None of them approach the depth or clarity yours do. I've been on YT since 2004. I've watched thousands of tutorials. I can say without doubt you have a knack for it. The "Synthosphere" is growing big right now and I think you'd be a big benefit to everyone. Think about it, I can promise you there are thousands of folks like me that have notifications set for your channel and would be pumped to see a video from you pop up. Anyway, so glad to hear from you. Hope you have a great weekend, God bless my fren.

is there a way to delete all sequences? Even those already saved so that each pattern permanently deletes the sequence? Do I have to delete and save each one?
@music-with-eric3 ай бұрын
Not that I'm aware of. But whenever you go to a new sequence and hit record it will write over whatever's there, so I'm not sure a total wipe is necessary? Consider it a safety feature - if you create a set of key presses to delete everything, someone might just accidentally do it...

Loving your tutorials! Quick question - once you have an arp pattern playing, is it possible to change the pitch of it? In another demo (not this one) I have seen it, but it wasn't explained. If I hit another key on the keyboard the arp just stops. Can't seem to find this anywhere.
@music-with-eric4 ай бұрын
You can't transpose an arpeggio, because it'll assume the key you've played is your new arpeggio material. You can transpose a sequence, however.

Hi Eric, hope all is well. I’ve commented several times now on how good these Crave tutorials are and your high skill level as a clear and concise teacher. I’m not sure why you stopped making tutorials. Maybe life is too busy. I have to say that since the Crave is now part of a trilogy of synths, I’m pleading with you to do another superb tutorial on the Behringer Edge, and when it is more widely available, the Behringer Spice. I know it is a great deal of work, but it would be of such benefit to us users of the trilogy. You really are an extremely good teacher and I want to be able to "Pless Pray” (I'm so glad you left that in, after all we are all only human!) on the Edge and Spice!! The three units are definitely made to be played together and knowing how to use them to their fullest would be terrific!!

Good evening Eric, I'm following your entire tutorial and it seems to me that you are very prepared for the question I have to ask you for my Crave. I had the opportunity to download some patch sheets for the Crage from the "patchstorage" site where the various connections made by the author are practically copied and that very beautiful photonic sound should come out (like trance, psitrance) but which doesn't come out for me even though I set it exactly like the pattern I see. Furthermore, I see that a JAC cable is often connected between "ext audio" and "osc pulse" but looking at the manual "ext audio" is not used to connect to an external peripheral?" At this point I wonder how these sounds come out because the patches do not use with other related instruments is mentioned but they write that the sound is from crave. Can you tell me something about it?
@music-with-eric4 ай бұрын
The patch, as you describe it, would be sending the oscillator pulse wave to the external audio input so that if you turn the modulation knob in the oscillator section you'd morph between the saw wave on the left (assuming you have saw selected with the toggle switch) and the pulse wave on the right (as opposed to noise, which is what you'd get with nothing patched into external audio).

Is it possible to change scale (time division ) of notes when using external clock . As I can't seem to find or figure out how to do it. Example I'm using edge and clock is coming from beatstep pro at 172 BPM and edge at same but 1/8 notes my crave is always playing to fast because I can't find out how to change it.
@music-with-eric5 ай бұрын
I don't have an Edge, so I can't say for sure, but on the crave's shift+hold+8 menu, page 1, you can change the relative value of the sync. If edge and crave are on the same rate setting, they should run at the same tempo.

Hey Eric, great tutorial. How do we enable the tempo to take a cv input? Couldn't find any option on the app. Thanks
@music-with-eric5 ай бұрын
According to the version of the manual/firmware I used while making most of these videos, it's in the shift+hold+8 menus, page 1, option 5. This may have changed since 2020 though.
@Moh-Tor21 күн бұрын
@@music-with-ericHi, I can’t get tempo to change via CV. I’ve changed the parameters for: Page1 to 5=CV. Page2 to 8=AssignOut=Random. Page3 to 5=ClockOutMode=Auto (I’ve tested all, none work). Page4 to 1=ClockEdgeMode=Fall (the other option doesn’t work either). In your example I use the multi out to change the pitch via osc cv, but when I try the 2nd multi to tempo, it just doesn’t work. I’ll see if I can contact Behringer about this next..

Are you running that through some kind of compression? When I turn the resonance up above like 50% there is a huge drop in overall volume and I'm wondering if I got a defective unit, or if every video I'm watching includes compression?
@music-with-eric5 ай бұрын
No compressor used here, just crave directly into my audio recorder (zoom r8 for this video, iirc). Perhaps the KZbin compression has something to do with it? Or maybe iMovie, which I used for the first few videos in this series. Later I switched to Davinci, but didn't have quite the right codec. Eventually I figured it out... Generally though, the volume tends to drop on many analog synthesizers when you increase the resonance (partly why I couldn't get on with the Minilogue); that behavior is dependent on the construction of the filter.

Hey, lovely videos. Really thorough. I was wondering if the 4th version of the arp is really random. When I arpeggiate notes of the C major and let the eight of them in a loop with the arpeggiator in this mode it plays a very predictable, tough more articulate, pattern. So I guess you could use it as a random arp if you play say 13 harmonically unrelated pitches, but it still plays a simple pattern. Haven't updated the firmware still, so this might have changed in the meantime. Just saying, try it out with 8 notes from the same scale, and you'll easily notice the pattern it plays.
