I'm pretty new to ESK8 but I'm also old and experienced in other sports (MTB, motorcycles, snowboard, water skiing, sk8) and I can tell you after doing 40 miles or so on my Meepo shuffle that the #1 cause of getting messed up is going too fast and not wearing protective gear. I really think that ESK8 is the most dangerous thing I have ever done. Just because the board can to 28 mph, doesn't mean you have to. Over 20 mph is ridiculously fast. You really should have full protective gear (jacket, long pants, pads) probably a full face helmet. If you fall at 25mph protected like that you'll probably just laugh it off. Without all that stuff, you'll be in the emergency room or worse.
