Was wondering about that too, might just be firing without the sealing ring, reduces distance significantly.

You would be a bit too militant for me but great to see the dogs working. A good spaniel wont get too far away from you any you don't need to show them where a bird dropped.

Hello ! I'm the big fun of your channel! I love your dogs. I've just been considerating the idea to get one of the breed. Unfortunately in my country ( Poland) people do not hunt with them. I think i will have to go to the UK. I'm intrested in how they behave while meeting a deer or a boar. Have you ever had such experience ? I want to use this kind of a dog as a 'fetcher' or a flushing dog. Best regards !

I liked how good she was at using her nose to find the tennis balls and you only handled her when she had gone out of the area, also the times she thought about it and sat by herself before being sent. 🙂👍

Morning Howie, I find the red tennis balls really make them work and helps to develop confidence when out on a testing retrieve. She just needs to get a few head of game under her nose now to really get her going but I am pleased the way she is shaping up. Cheers Nick

Why are you giving hands signals on a see retrieves.
@Pettycordgundogs
@Pettycordgundogs 3 ай бұрын
Thanks for your question. I personally don’t differentiate between seens, memory’s or blinds, a retrieve is a retrieve and through my training my verbal command of “fetch it” just tells the dog there is something to find. Also as I work spaniels I do always “indicate” the direction I want them to go as more often than not they have stopped away from me whilst hunting unlike one of the retrieving breeds that are more often than not sent from the handlers side. I hope this helps…cheers Nick

I love to watch spaniels hunting like that. Mine has just had his piece of toast and is now snoozing 😂 but to be fair he's a pet rather than a worker ... although he does like flushing Muntjac in the woods 🤦‍♂ I love to watch Twig and Percy they remind me of happy days with my old bosses springers Nick
