For Sure, that gas is horrible by now, hopefully the gas tank isn’t rusted out. An oil change would be smart as well.

I would put rubber washers/spacers on the mounting bolts. Those would dampen the vibrations, and prevent the paint/metal chipping/flaking from happening again.

You can run them as is but if you want the best performance an 8-12 degree key should be used. They have less than 20 degree timing. The one sold at twice the cost has 28 degree timing which is better. I have two of these and set them at 32 degree timing.
