Dame Judith Anderson had such presence in whatsoever role she played ! She really frightened me, when I was a child, as the sinister Mrs Danvers in 'Rebecca' when it was shown on British TV many years ago. In particular, she was a fine Shakespearian actress, one of a generation no longer with us.

@deborahlangnese764517 күн бұрын
Black and white is always more mysterious. This actually happened to a family in New Orleans where they had a phone placed in their coffin. And the person kept calling their family members constantly. Which drove the family members nuts. They finally removed the phone lines and the calls stopped. Eerie movie. Nightmares are coming. Weird ending.

no one else is stunned by the idiocy of the ending? Not only is Martin L going to jail for murdering the old woman with a knife and then attempting to cover it up by driving the car off the bluff with the young woman in it , but here we have a man with an instinct and intellect so sharp that he knew everything , but he didnt get suspicious that she might drive off the cliff , after receiving several emotionally traumatizing blows, when she stops , pointed directly at the cliff, right where the ghost attempted to push it over not 5 mins before, then when he gets it , it takes him 90 seconds to move 15 feet . the rest was fun .

Yes. After it ended, I said, “What? That was so dumb.”
@fiorenzointagliata325218 күн бұрын
. the shorter The Haunted is probably the more effective telling. Aside from the relatively languid chunks that get omitted, including Orion’s speech quoted above and that magnificent long take, which here gets sliced to a few seconds, the ending is notably different. The backstory is the same, as is the dramatic climax, but this pilot abruptly gives us one tenor of ending while the longer version throws in one last dramatic twist as Orion stands there with his mouth open instead of making a move to do anything about it. This film was originally an hour-length pilot for an entire series (you can find the pilot separately here on youtube), however the pilot never got picked up, so they put together a feature-length using extra footage they had already filmed in order to at least finish the story, which hadn't been finished in the first version. What resulted is a lot of still strangely unanswered plot-points and suggestions of things to come, which never got to reveal themselves!

This IS an unusual "B" featuring the reknown J. Anderson. Thank you for posting. In addition, an English actor, Cyril Cusack, appears (e.g., ~36:40, ~50:24). Among other roles, CC was the custom riflemaker in "Day of the Jackal."

Cannot contact you through your channel so will try this. If you are so enamored of Miss Anderson, why not get us a better copy of "Blood Money", 1933 - or any copy at all. How could you skip that over the top movie?
@JudithAndersonArchives17 күн бұрын
Hello! Believe me, any agonies you have in my inability to find certain works of hers is nowhere near my own agony! What my channel has is anything (that I am allowed to post-- some are immediately blocked by copyright censors such as "Why Bother to Knock?") which has not been made easily accessible online before, or things which I can provide a higher quality master of. I try very often to find better copies of what I already have, and not to mention my long list of mostly television and tv-movie appearances, but unfortunately this is a difficult and fruitless endeavour.. Still, do I try! A film like Blood Money, which is very old, and was not so popular as to be remastered and preserved, (as say, something like Rebecca, Laura, Salome, etc.) would be very difficult, if not impossible, to find in higher resolutions. Many of my favourite of her roles and films are tragically low-quality! It is not a matter that I haven't uploaded Blood Money because I do not have it, but rather I know there has already been the best currently available quality upload on this same platform, and I have it saved in my community playlist of films for fans to find and watch. I would rather avoid needlessly reuploading each and every one of her films, because many are very easily found. (For future reference, I do have an email available for contact on my channel information! -Oetta)

@@JudithAndersonArchives Thank you so much for the reply! I am 82 years old and have been long aware of the general problem of lack of quality prints of so many "B" movies. In the 1960s the only chance to see any of them was late night TV in very poor quality. Much better now, especially since the copyright monopoly (Time Warner) has been broken and all 1929 films have fallen out of the purgatory they had been in. It will get better year by year, keep up the good work!
