Dude, congrats on the upgrade. Looks like a beefy unit. I too purchased a new lathe last week, and while it's my third lathe, it's technically the first proper lathe I've owned. Turning feels almost effortless when you're not fighting the wobble in your spindle. Looking forward to seeing your future projects 👍🏻

I was going to suggest maybe you could turn yourself a fancy cigarette on the lathe, but then you dropped the bad news. That sucks, dude. Rip 💀 This is the main issue with using a drill powered lathe, they're not designed to withstand lateral pressure. They're designed to be strong when pushing against the motor from the front like when you're drilling, so when you are pushing from the side like with woodturning, it creates stress on the spindle. Perfect time to stop smoking, though. All the money saved from not buying baccy can now go towards a proper lathe. And be fair to yourself, bro. You're talented enough that you deserve a proper lathe. Those Pokémon figures are not just excellent recreations, but they're unique. There's no-one else on KZbin that has done that. Out of all the millions of people that upload videos every day. Just you. ☝🏻

This video encouraged me to turn my first twig pot. It's gonna go on my mother's grave. Bro, you've got so many Parkside tools I would have thought you'd have their lathe. I've had one for about a year now, and it's pretty decent. Definite improvement over my original setup. The only real downside is that you can't change the tailstock out for a Jacobs chuck. Although honestly with your talent I would recommend you get a proper lathe. It's worth spending a little extra for a tool that will be able able to do so much more, with tighter tolerances (less wobbly).
