Testament to Bob Dylan 👍. He said that this was Hendrix song now.

Profoundly influential and still about the best guitarist of all time - he may not have been the most technically gifted guitar player ever, but, he was one of the most naturally gifted. Thanks for uploading - I liked it and subscribed.

Always have loved this. Song was just made for Hendrix, from it's theme all the way through to his vocal delivery, and tasteful little fills/ chromatic runs. Cool beyond belief.

Mid-70s, I was a weekend DJ at a small AM station. In my two years there, my one and only phone call complaint was in response to my playing Jimi's version of the Star Spangled Banner. At the time, I had a copy of the Soundtrack from the film Jimi Hendrix. When I got the phone call, I didn't even get a word in beyond hello. The lady berated me for playing it, ending with stating her name and declaring that she was "an American!" Then she hung up. My response? I pulled that Soundtrack album back out and looked for the loudest, noisiest cut I could find, and this was it. Just like we heard it here. So, I went back on the air, announced that I'd gotten a complaint about my playing of the anthem, so, here's some more Jimi! About a year and a half or so later, I'm with my girlfriend, soon to be wife, and we're going to her babysitter's house to pick up her kid. That babysitter turned out to be that same woman that called me to complain. So, I ended up standing in her living room, knowing exactly who she was, and she had no idea who I was, beyond being the boyfriend. I did have one other complaint while I was there, but it wasn't by phone. Instead, I got a visit from the manager while on the air, with a local preacher in tow. All because I'd played a cut from a Gabe Kaplan comedy album, the one the show Welcome Back Kotter was based on. I just mistakenly chose a cut that happened to use a few of the "wrong" words...

Hendrix is the blueprint of what was to come in the later years in guitar playing and for rocks evolution. The next one was Eddie Van Halen and then you get the last 2 , Ingwie Malmsteen and Steve Vai as guitar virtuoso.... But Eddie was the one that Made the biggest difference with that HEAVY CRUNCH sound that made ROCK sound heavy and explosive ............. Reply
