Thank you for this video! I've had my horses tail in my bedside drawer for YEARS because I couldn't decide what to do with it. But now I think I'll try this! What size bead did you use?

You're welcome - It was a 12mm outer diameter, 11mm tall with a 6mm hole. But you can use any size you'd like. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

I know it has been a while since you posted this and you will probably not responde, but is there anyway to make this work if you don't have that long of horse hair? I am going to make a bracelet of a horse's tail, but I only manage to get a short amount of hair before she passed away. Can I attach strings or something to make it longer?
@practicallycreative4213
@practicallycreative4213 10 ай бұрын
Actually there is. You make the bracelet as shown and once you get the end caps on you can fill in the length you need with chain. And your clasp will hook in to the chain. I hope this makes sense.

I’m a Paracord and mohair Mecate braider. I have always ended my mecate with a Turks knot and use the remaining length of the cord for the tassel. I need to attach a horsehair tassel to the end of the mecate for the tassel instead. I have a vision in mind but Your advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you 😁
@practicallycreative4213
@practicallycreative4213 10 ай бұрын
The way I make the tassels would not be durable enough for your mecate. Could you take longer pieces of horse hair and braid them right into your mecate towards the end.? then they would be part of the tassel at the end. I'm not sure this is much help but hope you come across something beautiful to do. Keep checking out the youtube videos. Hopefully someone has something you could use. Good Luck!

You need to have the hair the same length. With no split ends. Have the thick ends from the base of the tail split in half. Flip one half and place them together. This makes the thickness of the braid is the same all the way down.

With the horse hair rubber banded at the top. I comb it out. Then wash it in the sink with either horse shampoo or dawn dish soap. Whatever you have on hand. Rinse it well then hang it to dry.

@deserthorses5

@@practicallycreative4213 MUCH easier! I don't especially like the feel of the plastic ones. I'm making another one today and I already sewed the coordinating fabric handles. I found trying to move the bag around to make the Z on them was extremely difficult, even with the fabric. The plastic is just so stiff. I make fabric ones all the time, but I have so many leftover bird seed bags, I wanted to make some to give away.

Hi thanks for making and sharing this video. The end results look fantastic. I just recently acquired several wooden cigar boxes of different shapes and sizes and I am currently in the process of converting them into dump boxes, memory boxes, Stash boxes with hidden compartments, display cases for knives&guns, Deck boxes for card games like pokemon and magic the gathering, and shadow boxes. I came to the internet and KZbin looking for some ideas and inspiration. I was expecting to see some jaw dropping, next level masterpieces (yours are badass btw) but I'm really flabbergasted that there really isn't much out there. Usually if you come up with an idea for something and you look it up on online, 99.9% of the time there's already established communities of people that are doing the same thing. Anyways, keep on making cool stuff and sharing it with us.
