Hey, thanks for the question! Adobe recommends 16gb ram for After Effects on macOS and I do too. Having said this, you can download After Effects on devices with less ram (I even downloaded it in my 4gb windows laptop when I started out), but you will experience slower rendering times and it will impact the speed of previewing your animations and using complex tools. I wouldn't recommend it for the long-run as it could put a strain on your Mac (as it did on my laptop 😂) and would encourage you to try to match the minimum system requirements they recommend, but I understand it's not always affordable. The SSD is great, you might want to make sure you regularly delete saved cache files to save yourself space (After Effects > Settings > Media & Disk Cache > Empty Disk Cache), you can also set a maximum disk cache size so it won't fill up your SSD, as video files take up a lot of space. Hi Sir, can you quick help me out on this, please. Only mov files has transparent ? So i need to re import mov -> avi in order to become transparent avi file ? thanks sir - i need lower the filesize becuase its an overlay animation for streaming screen, and 400 MB for a 10 sec. clip is way to much in my eyes i think...thanks sir

When I rotate my layer I imported from Illustrator, my shape keeps stretching back and forth during the rotation. I heard something about the scale being the issue on some other threads but I don't see how this could be the issue when I haven't touched the scale at all in my comp.

What if I wanted to vary the speed at which something rotates? Like what if I wanted to have an audio amplitude layer connected to the speed of rotation of a video clip, so that the louder the audio amplitude layer is (when the keyframes in that layer have a higher value) the video clip would rotate faster (and similarly, if the audio amplitude layer is quieter, the rotation speed of the video clip would be slower). How could I do that?

Great thanks, only problem is that the exported mov video will not play on mac. Quicktime says the file is not compatible. How to resolve this?

For anyone else with this problem, make sure you're not exporting using the Animation codec (Output Module Settings > Format Options > Video Codec dropdown). This codec isn't supported in newer versions of macOS Catalina. Use the Apple ProRes 4444 lossless codec instead and you should be fine.
