The only confusion I see in Solly's otherwise sober analysis is his belief that the ANC is still a vehicle for the emancipation of the people. Poor analysis. He needs to read the moment critically. Also, Solly seems to think the ANC has only recently been captured by "capitle" (as he calls it), which is absurd. Perhaps it’s the ANC’s blatant partnership with "capitle" today that prompts him to speak so openly-maybe. Or could it be that the SACP fears the potential loss of patronage that many of its leaders have historically received from the ANC through ministerial positions in government, making them nervous? After all, the ANC has been advancing capitalist interests for a long time.

Is the SACP still relevant is a post-democratic SA? Why are they not leaving the ANC to contest elections on their own?
